No, not really Ridgeway Kid, but taking a guess at it, I would say that it's based on the "law of averages" where you bring in as many players as you possibly can (Tony Stewart allowing), and sooner or later you're bound to find a good one in there!

I think it's a case of we try to get the best our budget and position will allow. Some will work out, others wont and SE has shown that he is not one for giving footballers 'time' to settle and makes decisions about moving players on quickly - most are the right calls. So while it looks a little scatter gun at times, I think SE does have a vision of where he needs to get the club but sometimes doesn't quite have the right players at his disposal to execute on that, hence the constant tinkering and loan signings.

All valid points and I have no desire to have a go at SE.  But it all seems very hit and miss to me.  No doubt time will tell.

The  rhymes and reasons are not exactly obvious to me.
