Other than Andy Roscoe, probably the most vilified player I've seen in a Rotherham shirt.  He didn't help himself though, he was absolutely awful, but the manager (can't remember who that was?) kept picking him.  He did score a half decent goal (for his standards) though at Preston on the plastic pitch & we won 1-0 (I was pretty young then so details a bit hazy) - Zip wink

The game at Preston was on January 20th 1990 Exeter and it was indeed 1-0.

Little known stat about Stewart Evans is that whenever he scored a competitive first team goal, we never lost......in fact it's almost an 100% record.

Here's the run.

JAN 7TH 1989.....2 GOALS AT PETERBOROUGH.....WON 3-0

MAR 18TH 1989.....2 GOALS AT WREXHAM......WON 4-1

MAR 25TH 1989......2 GOALS V HARTLEPOOL AT HOME.....WON 4-0

NOV 21ST 1989......1 GOAL AT BURY (FA CUP).....WON 2-1

NOV 25TH 1989.......1 GOAL V SHREWSBURY AT HOME......WON 4-2

JAN 1ST 1990......1 GOAL V BRISTOL ROVERS AT HOME......WON 3-2

JAN 20TH 1990.....1 GOAL AT PRESTON.......WON 1-0

MAY 5TH 1990......1 GOAL V NORTHAMPTON AT HOME.....WON 2-0

SEPT 15TH 1990......2 GOALS V WIGAN AT HOME.......WON 5-1

NOV 24TH 1990......1 GOAL V MANSFIELD AT HOME......DREW 1-1

DEC 17TH 1990......1 GOAL AT HALIFAX (FA CUP).....WON 2-1

DEC 26TH 1990.......1 GOAL V CHESTER AT HOME.......WON 2-1

To be fair he was a target man and when the ball was put on his head he was quite good. I do remember a few goals of his and one of them was one of the best headers I think I have ever seen!
