When Tony Towner and the other members of the 80-81 Championship winning team turned up at the last home game, one of the questions that was asked by a few people was, where is Mick Gooding these days.
Nobody had an answer and wikipedia didn't help either (nowt new there then)
My Brother lives in Surrey and he watches Non-League Football down that way, and whilst at Ascot United v Thatcham Town on Tuesday night in a Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division game, he noticed a familiar name on the visiting team.
Now 55 year old, Mick Gooding is alive and well and Head Coach at Thatcham Town
Just thought i'd pass on this info about a popular ex-player.

really enjoyed watching im play. He could be either the influential figure, or way off the pace at times. My image cam remembers him playing right midfield in fairly advanced positions most of the time. not one for tracking back much from what I remember?
nice control and good (quick decisive) distribution and industrious in short spells.
Mick Gooding used to be one of my favourite players with his all action style, and I'm glad to hear that he's doing well and still involved in football.

Hiya Nez, how you doing pal.
Missed seeing you before games, and love the Michael Bolton avatar.
