Must be my mistake then....but why choose this particular clip ? Especially as a test.
At the end of the day, I find it offensive and racist. Nothing you can do or say can change that.
In the seventies racism of this kind was widely accepted I agree, but not in the 21st century I'm afraid.

It's interesting looking at some of your posts and replies on MM too when it comes to racism, Asians and Pakistanis.

Try taking another look through, and seriously think about what you have written. It's quite simple for you to be mistaken for a racist.

It's such a pity that the undesireables seem to be taking control of this board already.

I genuinely believe that MMM didn't put that clip up to stir trouble and certainly don't think he's racist at all. I think he put it up for 'comedy' value. That said, some forethought should go into what some perceive as comedy and others take more seriously. I can see how the clip could be perceived, but the intention was honest I think. I'm not playing devil's advocate here, I'm just calling it as I see it.

I agree Pod. Perhaps an unfortunate choice, but I see no intent of racism. That said, we should all be aware of how our posts can be perceived, which is why I always suggested that people preface their opinions with I think or I believe, as otherwise the opinion can quite literally be taken as a statement of fact e.g. "Revell is crap" is a statement of fact, whereas "I think Revell is crap" makes it clear it is an opinion. Perhaps MMM could have included a comment that this is one of his favourite comedy clips within his test post to lessen the impact it has had?

Anyway, not wanting to preach to anyone, but I would also add that DJsld could be considered to be inflaming things by referring to the undesirables..........

Let's all be a little more thoughtful when posting.

How many times do i have to explain this?? To answer the ones questioning my use of the clip, as i've already alluded to, Blazing Saddles is one of my favourite films, furthermore, because that film isn't on any 'racist' hit list or is subject to any kind of ban anywhere in the world, i don't see why it should be an unfortunate choice as a test run.

You're now questioning my integrity fella, and believe me you couldn't be further from the truth about my views, regardless of your liberal tainted views on any posts i have put on MM, go on, copy and paste any posts i have put that are racist.

I don't care if i can be "mistaken" for a racist, that, in my view, is your own blinkered prejudices coming to light.

Undesirable am i, personally i really think you've shown yourself up to be an idiot, simple as that, unbelievable some folk, unbelievable.

Lets put this to bed cos its way off topic.

If I'd have thought it was below the belt it would have been removed.  I tried explaining (probably not very well), that we're talking about a movie that is 40yrs old, from a different era than what we live today with different values.  It was also using a theme where values where even different still.  I hate the N word, even more I hate the F word they use in that clip but it's gotta be taken in the context of what I mentioned above.  My slant is, if you choose to watch something where these values are so different and from a time they were more 'accepted', then you risk hearing this kind of thing.  Nobody forces anyone to press a play button, turn a device on, switch a channel or whatever.

I don't believe either that MM is what he is accused off, and that the video was used as a test in good faith.

If you called a Wednesday a pig, and he happened to be Muslim you'd be in all sorts of trouble - even Peppa Pig is considered offensive by some biggrin

Fine by me fella, i can't really believe it came to this, and i'm sorry this caused your first bust up in the forum!!, absolutely no intention of offending anyone, absolutely nothing racist about me either, and to be called it, along with other derogatory stuff beggars belief, but, that's modern Britain for you, take this down if you want, not fussed either way, can't be arsed with the hassle.

Moderator is a wrong word - mediator is more apt biggrin

I'm not fussed about it, comes with the territory & if I wasn't prepared to 'mediate' this kind of thing then what's the point of putting a new board up eh smile

All is well my end smile

More of a test run than expected! Daft as it sounds, all the points are valid. As someone not offended by the clip, but knowing it's legitimately possible to be so (many an argument about point of view with my much more educated and liberal wife)I'd like to say that mmm seems to be pukka on this and djds (sorry can't see your name as I write), has every right to feel upset . However, let's notice and believe others when they apologise for causing offence and be happy with that.
