Any chance we can have instant bans for any form of racism please, before the trolls start to ruin what could be a great board.

Context please.

Blazing Saddles was a success based on it highlighting how pathetic racism is. A comedy that continually poked fun at stereotypical ideas.

Yes I'm currently putting something together that will lay out the consequences for such things like that, which will be a permanent sticky

Having thought about my previous post maybe its me that needs to look at things in context.

Why choose THAT clip to test?

Of all clips...

I saw a film recently "America - Imagine The World Without Her" and used the stain of it's history with racism & slavery.  I don't think it's a bad thing to remind people how a lot of America, and particularly it's infrastructure was built - at the hands of this abhorrent practise.  In fact it's still done today, most of our stuff is made in Chinese & Indian sweat shops.

I don't know why the OP chose to post that, could have been random - it's not something I would have chosen, but it's not been lauded so as I say, I don't see the issue of being reminded how utterly wrong that time period normalised it.

"Keep Calm - Support The Millers" biggrin

Thank you Exeter, I'm on a mobile device and can't see the emoticons, but I'll make a note of the ones I want when on the full site. Thanks again.

If it's a fairly big screen though you can view the full site from the Menu button at the top

Hold on a minute all you pseudo-liberals, that clip, along with the whole film, as far as i'm aware, is freely available to buy, watch, rent whatever and is under no censorship whatsoever, i picked the first clip on youtube, i chose that film because it's one of my favourites, now i think you all ought to grow up really, the film highlights, as said by Heman, the stereotypes that abound and doesn't promote racism, indeed it belittles the racists, so, once again people, grow up.

Even so, I find the language used to be highly offensive and like it or not, it is racist.

You are entitled to your opinions and so am I. However choosing such a clip to use as a test my read deeper into your psyche than you actually intend to admit.

One way or another, it's inappropriate.

YOU find it racist? in what context? like i said, if any part of that film was racist it wouldn't have got anywhere near our screens, and you all know it. I really don't have to justify myself to you or anyone else for that matter, and i'm certainly not racist in any shape or form, and my psyche is all well and good thank you very much, i despair at some of you lot sometimes...hmmdisbeliefno

I'll leave you with this quote...."Where's the white women at?"

Do you think it's ok to use the N word whilst referring to a black person? I certainly do not.

If you think that this clip has no racist connotations then you are a complete bigot.

no MMM takes a deep breath and sighs, listen up fella, ive heard more black people call themselves the 'N' word than ive had pukka pies, and listen up further, i aint a bigot, what don't you get about the fact, in the clip, that the stereotyped white cowboys who are 'supposed' to be the intelligent group, are shown in the clip to be dimwits by the use of THEIR use of the 'N' word, i wonder whether the whole group of black actors thought it was racist?

You really need to get things in perspective in my opinion, it's a comedy, which in fact champions the first 'black' sheriff of a western town, hypothetically speaking, indeed makes the white 'heirachy' look decidedly stupid, you should complain about that fella, ridiculous how they've treated the white man there....
