Exeter and I have been discussing ways to identify 'off topic' threads. the idea is to begin the topic with the yellow warning triangle symbol, so it can be easily seen and distinguished from football related threads. I've started this as an example of sorts.
So, seeing as this is a music thread and I'm sure it's been done before, what's your favourite cover version of all time? The BBC recently did a poll on this, with controversial results. Please see the link for their choices:

Like it - easy to distinguish in the list, will put up a sticky.
On topic, out of that list the Mad World remake that was used on Donnie Darko was fantastic.
Covers though I think are generally ruined, my favourite though is Oasis' version of Hey Hey My My sung by Noel Gallagher at the old Wembley on the Familiar to Millions Tour
The BBC has a decent list with some great tunes on there (some obvious) but here are some covers that count amongst my favourites.
Roll Over Beethoven - ELO
Baby I Love You - Ramones
You Can Have it All - Yo La Tengo
Superman - REM
Dear Prudence - Siouxsie and the Banshees
People Are Strange - Echo & the Bunnymen
Willie Nelsons version of "Always on my Mind"was a great cover of the original by Brenda Lee,Elvis did a good cover also, but the Pet shop Boys ruined it.
