Is is a decent pacey winger. We need to get around the back of teams. Agard gave us a little pace last season but apart from Taylor who can run at a defence (no end product) we have everything pumped in from the wrong angle. Perhaps if we can just change this one aspect the forwards we have may start to get more goals and therefore more confidence. It's just too easy for opposition central defence. We could have revs attacking the ball instead of flicking on a ball.
Couldnt agree more, that right midfield/winger position is the part of the puzzle that we are missing. Someone who can come in and be an instant thorn in the oppositions side from the off.

Fully agree, said similar on my 'one quality player' thread on MillersMad. Pringle for me is the player most likely to do something special to get us a goal, so we need some quality for the right and a out an out pacey winger is something we ain't got and need badly IMO. Taylor the more I see, the more I don't like.
Hall doesn't seem to be the answer, if only we could have kept Tavs..........................................anyhoo
Right Back/ Right Midfield is slow & weak
Taylor is so frustrating, the trickery is there but he doesn't have that turn of foot to get away from him man once hes beaten him then his final ball leads a lot to be desired. Hes still our best option on the right though.
Hope the new Wigan manager doesnt like Tavs and we can go and bring him back here, saying that though I dont dislike Richardson. Taylor with Tavs overlapping could be a cracking right hand side.

I don't think Tavs has had much of a look in under Rosler whilst he was in charge, whoever the new manager is might come in and see his potential and play him more,or he could loan him to us to free wages up to get his own men in with a bit of luck.
I haven't seen where or how the lad McGlashan is getting on who used to play for Cheltenham,i always thought he might have been worth a punt whenever I've seen him play.
I suspect I'm in a minority but I rate Taylor. His close control and his ability to go around defenders is as good as anyone else in the squad. He tore the Wednesday midfield to pieces (no great accolade I know). People talk about confidence re Derbyshire's inability to score. I reckon the same goes for Taylor - and he's been very unlucky on a couple of occasions. However, unlike MD, his other qualities make him a far better prospect.
As for What We Need, some officials with a modi*** of ability would be high on my list.

It's true, Taylor has it all, but he is consistently frustrating, not only here but at Ipswich too. It's a fair point that he could have had a few goals too. He could be the man, but as close as he is to the genuine article he has never been able to iron out the lack of vision and awareness that I think he lacks.
Ian - I accept that Taylor seems to lack the knack of realising the ideal time to offload the ball. However, his work rate, particularly in chasing down defenders in possession is almost Revell-like. I reckon he's worth persisting with and I think he will eventually make Mick McCarthy welcome his return to Portman Road to assist with their promotion push. Unfortunately for Taylor, he seems to be one of those players who attracts criticism when things aren't going too well.
Glen you are correct in that he is by far our best player with the ball at his feet. Our only player who can run at the defence to take on a player and it maybe that if he can get a goal he maybe in for a few. It's just his final decision making that's his problem strugles to release the ball at the right time or shoot on target. I'm sure he's as frustrated as we are. I would have thought they would be trying to coach him but perhaps it's just so unnatural for him to look up he struggles so much? I talked to an ex Rotherham player about him who said they had played with a few similar players who showed brilliance at times but just couldn't look up to find a team mate but just kept running with the ball. Fingers crossed for him. Have we only got him until xmas ??
