We turned a fairly strong team out last night but it didn't make for good viewing imo

Still using the long ball from goalkeeper to front. I can hardly remember a time when the goalkeeper rolled it out short to either a wide man or somebody on the edge of the box. Kelly fought hard to win the ball in the air but for me he can only ever be an impact player in this division. Kayode found the going tough but his movement imo left a lot to be desired. I expected a fair bit more effort and desire from him but perhaps that is harsh as it was is first meaningful game in a long time.

Morrison looks a fair way off the pace of the game and it could be his past injury problems have left their mark and he will only be a shadow of his best. McCart puut in  a steady shift but whether he could ever hold a regular place down in the championship is debateable. I think we need to hold onto him rather than send him out on loan again. We have to keep Humphries as he looks very good in possession and is a solid defender. I think a bid will come in and test our resolve.

Wiles, Rathbone and Odoffin struggled to get a grip on the game and had little influence on it apart from when Rathbone drove us forward in the secoind half  on a couple of occasions. Dexter looks a work in progress. He improved as the game went on but i am not sure atm he will be good enough in the championship to be a regular starter. I do think Fred might be as he appears to have the ability and pace to go past players(something we have little of). Hugill came on but again he showed he is not a natural finisher when he didn't take a left footed shot early but waited to get it onto his right foot and the chance was gone. A natural finisher would at least  have tested the goalkeeper.

Early days but i am worried about our chances in this division. We need Cafu,Tiehi and Green to make a big difference when they get on the pitch. We also need the promise of young premier league loans to give us a threat in the final third and some pace and movement. The lack of pace in the backline worries as well. Matt Taylor has one hell of a job to keep us up i am afraid.
