Storm before the calm

A match against Cardiff that could see us safely in the same division next season. If only we could get three points tonight and ease the worries of the millers fans. We all know they were 1-0 up until the storm came so what has to change tonight?

In the last match against cardiff we started with Peltier,Wright and Blackett in a back four with Humphreys. I only expect Humphreys to start tonight. That is the first improvement. We also started with Fosu, Odoffin and Coventry as a centre three in midfield. I only expect Coventry to start tonight. That is another big improvement. We will need to improve because there is no doubt imo that Cardiff are hitting a bit of form at the right time to keep them up. Only Wigan has scored less goals in the league than Cardiff but in the last six games they have scored ten goals.

What about us? It sounds like we have injuries and illness (nothing new). I think we have to play a strong no nonsense team with a high press and keep it tight. A draw would be a decent result imo. It would mean Reading have to win their last two games to stay up( they play Wigan at home and Huddersfield away).I think we have to rest the luxury players. Fosu and Quina are not tough enough in the middle. If we have to chase the game they might be able to play a part off the bench. I have advocated starting Kelly but i think in this game we need to start with Hugill and bring Kelly on late if needed  My team would be.

                                                                          Viktor

                                   Harding                Humphreys            Wood             Bramall

                                                                        Coventry

Ogbene             Lindsay       Rathbone or Wiles            Ferguson

                                                                      Hugill

Stay calm and give it your all. Do i think we will have enough? No not really. I think Cardiff will beat us 2-1 . Do i think Reading will get four points? No i don't so what are we worrying about.

Would agree with that team Whiston.

Whoever plays it needs to be a quick start, we cant afford another sluggish 45 like it was against Bristol City or we will pay the price. The likes of Rathbone and Ferguson need to give us as much as possible for 60/70 mins then maybe look to introduce a Fosu or a Quina.

That second half was one of the worst I have ever seen a Rotherham team produce in the past ten years considering what was riding on the game.

Don’t really blame the players either more the negative tactics and set up. Ogbene was never allowed past the half way line and not one body anywhere near Kelly.

We will go down it’s coming you can feel it.

Well the first half of the prediction was correct that we would get beat 2-1.

A very tepid perormance from the millers. Won very little first ball or second balls. The formation puzzled me. We have looked reasonably solid with a back four for quite a while. How were we set up last night? 3.5.1.1. 5.4.1 . I have no idea but i do know one of our best players Hunphreys all season was lost last night and had a poor game. Add to it Wood and Peltier who seemed to be out fought and won very little in the air. All three resorted to panic hoof ball defending for most of the night. Our midfield offered no creativity and it was left to Harding to deliver the crosses on the few times we threatened. Ogbene looked a threat but he was heavily marked and was pushed back most of the night. Rathbone was clearly only half fit at best and offered litle going forward. The jury is still out on Hugill. A player who seems to look for the man instead of attacking the ball. I have sympathy for him as a loan raider with a team who only knows how to hoof it long. The subs that came on made no difference and i suppose the inevitable happened when Cardiff got the winner late on. They deserved it on last nights showing for their physical strength, strong defending and having two up front who made life very difficult for us.

Will my second prediction prove correct? Cardiff will not get four points. This is a team who have not won in eleven games. Have scored only seven goals in those matches. They play Wigan on saturday in a must win game. I expect a Wigan win and then it's time to celebrate on Monday when we beat Middlesbrough. Hold on a minute a pig has just flown past my window. Keep The Faith and UTM.
