I will put my hands up now and say i felt the only thing we would get from the Blackburn game was a good hiding.
Three much needed points in January before a very heavy schedule in February. M.T has changed the formation to a flat back four with either a formation of 4.3.3 or 4.5.1. Ferguson on the wide left and Ogbene on the wide right. Defensively we appeared much tighter. With players coming back to fitness and new faces coming in can we build on the Blackburn result?
A frank, honest group discussion took place on the Monday before the Blackburn game. Honing in on the basics and giving everything seemed to be the theme of the meeting according to Rathbone. Let us hope we can build on the last result and go to Watford with a bit more confidence. Obviously it will be tough to bring anything back. Today we have added Fosu on loan from Brentford to our squad. He is a wide player, who likes to play on the left but is a right footer. With Bola and McCart leaving i think we had to add a left sided player especially in the offensive half. He looked really good for Oxford when i saw him but his career seems to have stalled a bit. let's hope he can spring back to life at NYS.
With new players signed (still need at least one striker and central midfielder imo) and players like Ogbene, Kioso and Hall returning i think there is hope we can build on the Blackburn result. I still feel we will sell either ogbene or Barlaser, but the squad has been strengthened imo and if we could get that decent striker in then we have some sort of chance of survival. Before the Blackburn game i felt all hope was lost. UTM.
Fair comment Whiston, and the Blackburn result came as a shock to me too, as I stated on another thread. We all get deflated when results go against us, and have a tendency to try to find reasons for this(also known as criticism, depending on how we define these reasons). Surprising how one result can turn everything on it's head though, especially when it is totally unexpected. If we can build on it, I am sure we have a good chance of surviving in this league, which will then give us foothold to improve.
It's the hope that kills you, but we keep coming back for more. That's what makes us true supporters.
Another very good performance and it makes it even better that it was away from home against one of the better sides.
Despite his glaring miss, Fosu had a great debut. If we can get one or two more attacking options of his calibre we give ourselves a very good chance of staying up.
Slight criticism but im not sure Hjelde is a left back. There is definitely a talented player there but it will be as a centre back.
