A point mathematically confirms a play off spot but obviously our sights should be set much higher than that milestone.

Hopefully we can carry on with the same urgency we had in the second half against Ipswich.

Miller looks like he's going to miss the remaining games unfortunately. However, PW is starting with his strongest XI imo and we've still got a bit of fire power on the bench if required.

C'mon boys - one last push and let's get over that automatic promotion line!

Johansson
Harding, Ihiekwe (C), REG
Rathbone, Lindsay, Barlaser, Tutu, Wiles
Smith, Ogbene

SUBS | Chapman, Wood, Mattock, Ferguson, Odoffin, Ladapo, Kayode.

Half time. Horrible scrappy game. We dont deserve to be losing but we arent good enough to be in front. All three subs used. Ferguson on then off again. Will it be one of those nights? We are going to have to improve to get anything here.

Just an appalling game of football and nothing less than I expected against Burton. After we gave away the first goal, we were sucked into a war of attrition and they have the fast, strong players to ensure we got nothing from the game. True, their keeper made some great saves and the defenders threw themselves in front of the ball as if their lives depended on it. But it was ultimately extremely frustrating. Main thing though, MK Dons lost as well so there's no change at the top.

I suspect Saturday's game will be totally different and we'll see a lot more decent football played. Injuries are a concern though.

This season's end has a similar feeling to it as our last promotion when we went up on PPG. We were on a poor run then and were saved by Covid. This year we're being saved by our main competitors losing their bottle!

A dreadful game but the sort of game we would have got a point out of pre-Christmas. We wouldnt have scored tonight if we had played until midnight and you can have those nights, but we have contrived to give two terrible goals away allowing Burton free headers from set pieces so we walk away with nothing. Just as we allowed Robertson a free header (and Raggett who inexplicably headed wide from six yards) at Portsmouth. Why has that started happening? Injuries are a worry. Still two wins out of three and we are guaranteer to go up. Three or four points might even be enough. Can we fall over the line? I darent look.

Only positive is that Oxford and Sunderland are footballing sides that our pressing game has more success against. Even so i can see us losing all three games and agonisingly Wednesday slipping into second place. Tonight's performance was awful and taking off Barlaser, our one quality player, was criminal and typical of the archaic tactics our coaching team employ. Once again the failure to sign a quality striker in January has bitten hard. Who's to blame for that ?

I’m not sure this group have the collective mental strength to pull this off. I really hope I’m wrong.

We didn’t win a second ball which is ridiculous to say we had four midfielders on the pitch to start the game. Out fought and at times outplayed by a fairly average side. The style of football we chose to play tonight was grim and I’m not sure I can stomach much more of what the current set up have to offer.

Part ways whatever the outcome at the end of the season it needs a massive freshen up.

Completely unacceptable both from the players AND management.
PW takes off our only creative outlet in Barlaser & what happens?
Lump the ball up to Smith & hope for a bit of luck.
My grandson has more fight in him than Freddie & he's 9
We had chances & Wiles was unlucky with the diving header but did we ever look like scoring?
I'm starting to think Georgie Kelly is a myth.
We all know how good we can be so something has gone badly wrong very quickly but......
blessing in disguise?
this squad wouldn't get 20 points in the Championship
Can't see anything other than three defeats to end the season I'm sad to say
Are agents messing with our better players heads?
I'm at a loss
thoughts?

I personally think there has been a huge rift behind the scenes.

Being at a tighter / smaller ground like Burton you get a feel for what is actually going off with being closer to the action. There was no communication and you could visibly see a lot of the players were sulking Smith being the prime case.

The past week or so has been a hallmark of PW time as manager, he gets a win at a low ebb (Ipswich) to give false hope that we've turned a corner but immediately revert to type the next game.
