Tonight's game finished Exeter 2 Portsmouth 3. Portsmouth now travel to play Cambridge United next Tuesday. Looks like Portsmouth want to meet us at the NY Stadium in the quarter finals. ☺ Now that will be worth watching.

Cambridge v Pompey tonight. An interesting game after Cambridge saw off Premier League team Newcastle United 1-0 last Saturday, 8th Jan 2022. Pompey had to wait a frustrating 23 days between games over Christmas due to Covid outbreaks.
But their return to action includes a second visit to Cambridge in little over a week, with the sides meeting at Abbey Stadium in the last 16 of the Papa John’s Trophy this evening.
Pompey’s recent history in the EFL Trophy is impressive, having reached the Wembley showpiece in two of the past three seasons and lifting the silverware in 2019.
Cambridge have made it to the final once before, losing 4-1 to Blackpool at the Millennium Stadium in 2002.
But Mark Bonner’s men secured a 2-1 victory when the teams clashes at Fratton Park back in September.
Prior to that south coast clash, United had not celebrated victory against the Blues for an incredible 43 years!!
Cambridge United have progressed to the quarter-finals of the EFL Trophy with a 2-1 win over Portsmouth at the Abbey Stadium. They will now meet us at the NYS in a couple of weeks' time.
Harvey Knibbs' double was enough to send the hosts through, with Michael Jacobs scoring a consolation for the visitors 14 minutes from time. Cambridge are really firing on all four cylinders at the moment.
Do we want automatic promotion from League One? If so, do we really want to be wasting our time and energy chasing the EFL Trophy?
Tonight's attendance at the Abbey Stadium was 1308 (283 away).
