Fair pick Brad.

Guess we don't have anyone else to play in the middle so wiles might have to start with barlasar and then swap them at half time perhaps.

I'm always cautious about injuries and the league game following but on the other hand the majority won't have played for 2 weeks so they need keeping topped up

Give grigg the second half as they will be a little more tired and freddie the first perhaps.

Lindsay on for wiles .

Hasn't JJ been away with under 21s?

If he hasn't id rest him. Freddie needs a run out too.

I think Miller will play. This doesnt count towards his suspension so the run out wont hurt him and he counts as one of the four or five who started the last league game. I think they still have a rule about that, which forces you to appear to take it a little bit seriously. Which says it all really. It's got no integrity as a competition. Just use it to give a bit of game time to whoever needs it and a bit of experience to some youngsters. Among those who might play a part I would think we will see Vickers, Edminds-Green, Bola, Odoffin, Barlaser, Miller and Grigg.

Think he was on about recalling the 2 lads from Guiseley Hull and Gratton? What happened to Cooper too? Is he hanging around as cover for Angus?

Very much a side full of players who need the minutes. Vickers: Hull, Mattock, Bola: EdmondsGreen, Barlaser, Odoffin, Sadlier: Ladapo, Grigg. Perfectly reasonable selection.

Well if you didn't go or watch on Ifollow, you missed a real treat. We were embarrassingly good going forward and Freddie could/should have had five! I know Donny aren't up to much but it was men against boys. Vickers looks very steady and strong. Jake Hull - a great prospect. Odoffin showed some real nice touches, was physical and hit a blistering shot for our third. Barlaser back to his best, Miller toying with defenders and, the cherry on the cake, Will Grigg doing just what we need around the box as well as working hard for the team. Some good team selection headaches for Warney. Donny are doomed!!

Some of the individual performances were very good against what was pretty much Donnys first choice side. Grigg clearly has some quality about him. Barlaser was a pleasure to watch. Hull looked promising. The biggest plus for me was Bola who looks big, strong and quick and and with a good left foot. I hope his injury was nothing serious. We have a lot of good young players on the books. All in all we turned a pretty meaningless game into a very useful exercise.

Truly excellent performance from our B team. On that showing there will be some regulars looking behind them.

Lindsay, may well be the first to feel the pressure very soon, and suddenly our left side looks overloaded. Defence too was solid . I liked the look of several tonight , but my pick is odoffin.

Quite stunning going forward. Barlasar , was superb.

I think it is easy to get carried away with a result like last nights. However, you have to give credit to our lads for putting in a very strong performance. As Smiler said this was against a near first choice Donny side. Plenty of positives, with Odoffin looking like he is getting very near to 100% fitness. He is highly rated north of the border so i expect him to be pushing hard and getting in the first eleven anytime soon. Barlaser thrived on finding space and given time. He has probably played his way into the starting line up on Saturday. He will not be given that time on Saturday with somebody like Camps in their side, who i rate highly. Grigg will be a bonus for us and i expect him to get a goal or two to win us games.

I could comment on many players who did well last night but i want to finish on the much maligned Joe Mattock. I am sure most will see his booking as his major contribution, because they want to beat him with a stick. He was comfortable , strong and did well. He also put the cherry on the top by scoring the last goal. Not bad Joe. If you are selected to cover in the first team(which i now see you as a cover) i am sure you will not let us down. Time to cut him some slack, he has earned it.

If Joe Mattock is to play in the starting eleven I see him playing where he did last night - on the left of three at the back. With his experience that is somewhere he can play comfortably in league one. He was never the quickest and has lost a yard even then, but if you read the game well that needn't be a great problem. His distribution is very good - he still has a lovely left foot - and he is competitive in the air.

The thing I looked for last night was what we might see from players who we haven't seen much of. With that in mind I was looking at Vickers, Hull, Bola, Odoffin and Grigg. They are all good news stories as far as I am concerned. You can't judge people definitively on one viewing but there were clues. Vickers we know has done well in league one before and he looks pretty reliable. Hull is at the start of what will hopefully be a career, but he seems to have something about him. I thought Bola was a bit of a revelation. It was like watching left footed Wes Harding, which is no bad thing. Odoffin at times gave the ball away a bit cheaply which is dangerous when you play where he plays because it means the opposition are immediately running at our defenders, but he looks strong and athletic and seemed to grow in confidence as the game went on. Grigg is what his record suggests he is - an experienced striker who knows what it is all about.

The result for me is neither here nor there (better to win than lose of course) but we definitely got what we needed to get out of the fixture.

Pretty much share your opinions smiler. Just have slight reservations about Odoffin (didn't know about his father's history !) but we have to let him get match fit. Quite encouraging display, especially from Barlaser who oozes class but he'll get less time on the ball against more aggressive opponents than Donny who are easily the worst we have played this season(twice !).

Give me last night's Mickey Mouse game rather than the boring rubbish being served up by England!

It was a great result and wonderful to hear such positives about our fringe players, glad Mattock did well.
I agree with Glenn on England, absolute boring awful to watch, the Southgate negative defensive football, this is the greatest group of English players across many age groups (Huge factor is St. georges park) we have seen for a long time if not ever so we should expect them to get to tournaments easily and to the last stages as well, for me Southgate will not win anything with them as he is too negative and makes poor in game decisions at key times. Poland put on 3 players to bring freshness to the last 15 mins, it was clear from the pictures including the England players panting and wiping their faces with their shirts they were running on empty, Sterling didn't have a great game by his standards him and mount should have come off to put fresh legs on up front and in the middle and i think we would have countered their subs freshness, I will be accused of hindsight, I will have to record myself watching games to prove I was shouting at the TV to freshen up, we had the players on the bench to do it, another awful decision by such a negative manager.

Agree your post Derby. I'm not sold on Saint Gareth. I believe he lost us the Euro final by being indecisive with his substitutions and failing to change tactics to counter the Italian manager's change. To me, he's a safe pair of hands in qualifying for tournaments, but he will never win us a major tournament because he has neither the tactical panache nor the flamboyant bravery needed to succeed at the very front end.

I also agree with derby about being too negative and having the best set of players in a long time. For me playing two holding midfilelders tells you all you need to know especially when one, Phillips, is hardly international class imo. He makes too many fouls and loses his man at times.

I think a 4:1;4:1 formation would suit England with Grealish given a free role in midfiled. All about opinions and Southgate is much better qualified than i am. My best is managing pub teams so i am probably talking bol****s.

I think the English tend to overestimate how good our players are. I'm not sure how many of the current squad are truly world class. Maybe Kane and that might be it. My feeling is that Southgate plays two holding midfielders because we arent blessed with high quality centre backs and broadly speaking he gets the best out of what we have. If it's about results - and everybody tells me that managers get judged on results - he has done alright and we are on a good trajectory. By the way I find it hard to get behind any team that has players constantly falling over and begging for free kicks as much as our did last night. It was embarrassing at times.
