Vs donny

Historically,  it's a fixture that we'd go into with high expectations, but times they are a changing. Donny have had a good spell over the last decade , and can count themselves unlucky when at crimbo last they were top of the table only to fall away as the dastardly fowls swooped to pluck Darren Moore...

They now have former player Richie wellens

In charge. Its his 3rd spell at the club and is similar to our own Mr Warne.

Donny are wellens have huge injury issues but they have apparently dominated their games but are having difficulty finding the net. Sound familiar. Ambitions are toward a possession game , so good luck to them.

I'm struggling to pick a team for this one.  I want both sadlier and barlasar to start but am aware that both might be on the bench and also that barlasar hasn't really impressed this season.

Ogbene is out. I think I'd play Wiles at right wing back and Barlaser in midfield. Rathbone pushing on from midfield. So: Viktor: Harding, Wood, Ihiekwe: Wiles, Lindsay, Barlaser, Rathbone, Ferguson: Smith, Ladapo.

A good performance

Took 20 minutes to get our shape but looked good value for a 2 nil lead at half time. Miller looked nailed on to get sent off , but I was expecting a second yellow.

2 very good finishes from smudge.

Rathbone was excellent again as was Woody. This might be Woods best start to a season for us. Wiles did some excellent running from deep.

Down to ten men and in those first 10 minutes they put 10 crosses into our Box. God, it was painful. We then started coming our a little more as they were clearly pretty dire and from 71 minutes we looked good enough to keep a clean sheet.

Could have been a very comfy win with several goals. Could have been a very painful draw.

Miller played well, but boy! He nearly cost us .

Smudge was excellent and deserved his MOM.

Final word for sadlier ; he was very good value for his start. Looked skilful, football intelligent and has the beating of his man.

Sadlier was injured 80% of last season and wasn't picked when fit, he can't play well if he doesnt get game time!! His crosses were excellent today the one for the disallowed goal was outstanding, ogbene can play but it would take him 3 games to get that many quality crosses into the box. Put sadlier behind smith and you have a very interesting dangerous pairing. Ladapo was useless again, he doesnt close down, he fails to find a man with his passes, and he looks like he doesnt want to be here. The 3 in midfield look ok I do agree that wiles tried to play fancy football too near to our area. Donny were absolute garbage, they passed it about lovely but no end product, their 22 would be a great player for us to have but warne would play him at left back. Miller was always going to get sent off after his early pointless booking for shirt pulling, he deserved the red card and he loses control of the ball a lot and dives in, that needs to stop. It was a great result and Smith was wonderful, a model centre forward performance, we need to keep him. We won that game with 10 men for nearly 50 mins so the players deserve a lot of credit.
The negatives too much long ball again in the first half it is painful to watch sometimes, our midfield sole purpose is to stop the other teams midfield from playing as we bypass them. The other thing is the post match interview response from Warne regarding bringing people in. He said that we are trying and that is all you can do is try, what do our recruitment team actually do? Clubs that want players get them this passive view on recruitment is annoying.

We would have won that by four or five if it hadn't been for Millers ridiculous challenge. What was he thinking about? Defensively we are very strong which is a great platform to build on.

PW, said he can't say anything as he's been sent off and RB , said, we don't have a blame culture. So, smiler, I'm afraid, I cannot comment.

However, it was bloody ridiculous as was his yellow and if it were up to me ☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆ wants ☆☆☆☆☆☆ Shooting and then ☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆ AND ..

There were three things about the Miller tackle that made it unbelievable. First, we were cruising to an easy win and he put that in jeopardy in a split second. Secondly, he was back in the side as a replacement for an injured Ferguson and had done quite well but now has a three match ban. Thirdly, he was already on a yellow card. I mean he did it in style with a straight red, but what sort of challenge was that when he was already on a yellow? We all make mistakes but as a professional footballer (emphasis on the 'professional') what was going through his mind? It's a real head scratcher.

Feared the worst when Mattock came on and thought we’d do well to get a point with virtually all the 2nd half to come to be fair he did ok but it was a real team performance Smith was excellent if he goes we are in real trouble without a replacement Miller needs a proper rollicking On another matter the cynical side of me seeing Tilt on bench just days before deadline can’t we sell him and put it towards a forward on the other hand IF he wants to stay get your head down

The chasm between the two sides yesterday was enormous. If Donny don't sort out their strike force, they're doomed. Similarly, we have to ensure we retain Smith by making him an offer too good to refuse and hopefully tying him down for 3 more years. If he leaves, we'll be a toothless tiger.

I was so disappointed with the Miller sending off - I'd imagined the second half was going to be a comfortable stroll with a couple more goals at least. He's done this before with us prior to going out on loan. He needs to eradicate it from his game which shouldn't be difficult. Two boll.ckings required from Warne - one to Miller obviously and one to Sadlier who shouldn't need the incentive of a game against his old side to show us what he can really do! That kind of performance would see him as an automatic starter every week.

Another stellar midfield performance by Rathbone, ably assisted by Lindsay and Wiles - but the latter needs to eradicate the odd lapse in dangerous areas. Freddie is drifting and hardly seems bothered. It may be time to move him on for someone with a better work ethic and a semblance of close control! Finally, great to see Victor back to his imperious best.

All in all, a typical Rotherham performance. A stroll in the park turned into a heart stopping second half by a stupid error. But 3 points very welcome.

Onwards and upwards.

Glenn agree about Sadlier his best game for us I like him particularly because even though he doesn’t have Cheio and Millers pace he can go either way two good feet and an end product which in my book makes him more dangerous

Sads hasn't had a chance -unless he's judged on not being picked-to show what he can do.

It's obvious he has the skill and brain to walk into this team. Hopefully, now he has the chance he will prove he can make the shirt his own.

Freddie is not keen on either staying or going it seems to me.
