...are coming to little ole Toytown, so we'd best get big ears, Master Tubby bear and PC plod up early. It is however a big game for other more realistic reasons. Wednesday are every experts pick to be promoted being as they are not deserving of being in Division 3. Whatever the merits of that somewhat fantastical idea it is true to say that this will be an early test of the 2 teams . If like me you believe the early table begins to take the shape and portents for how it will finish afyer 46 games then its more important to come away from these games with some pride, integrity and a point or more. The Massive have grunted their way to an impressive start and are chomping away on 7pts from 3 games and they clearly have their snouts up in the air sniffing to sort the truffles from the s-h-it.
I'll tek a point. And, I'll start the same 11 vs morcambe minus REG, and put in the hard head and magic hat of Mr Wood. UTM.

There's very little difference between the two teams who both hail from this Camberwick Green conurbation in South Yorkshire. Captain Snort will want his team to score early doors and Windy Miller will want to do likewise. Not sure it will play out like that.
It should be the same starting line up that triumphed at windy Morecambe and I'm sure Windy Miller knows how to harness and deal with wind to get a result.
The going will be standard with predicted heavy rain showers.
We should start with a 4-5-1 formation to take the sting out of the predatory Owls.
I'll settle for 0-0 at half time and a 90th minute goal giving us the bragging rights over the minibus full of Wickersley Owls and their fellow Rotherham Owls' cohorts sitting in the away end.
Final score 1-0 to the Millers.
Hope it will be a cracking game.
Enjoy!
UTM!!

You have to acknowledge that Wednesday have a few quality players (Iorfa, Bannan, Gregory for example) and that if they stay solvent they should be up there challenging this season. It's a difficult one to predict and for that reason I will say that a draw looks the most likely outcome and it wouldnt be a bad outcome. From the Morecambe game I would replace REG with Wood.
I still can’t get my head round Piggy’s money tribulations as far as I know correct me if I’m wrong season before last 12 point deduction reduced to 6 on appeal start of last season then we learned earlier this year the players weren’t getting paid for months on end loads of players on far contracts leave Harris Fletcher Rhodes Westwood get replaced with players on fat contracts Gregory Marvin Johnson Hunt Wing and we and others play it by the book so tomorrow by rights we should be playing Piggy u18 side and give them a tanning 4 0 whereas we are basically playing a league 1 fixture against a team with championship players

Theyve brought in players on Championship money to play in league one ro replace players who were on premier league money in the Championship. Bannon and Iorfa will he on about the same money combined as our starting eleven. They havent learned much If they dont go up this season they're burgered.
God Knows why people think Gregory is the best striker in this league. He is 33 next Thursday and his record over the last four seasons indicate he is going at the game, In 2017/18 he played 43 league games and scored ten times......In 2018 /19 played 44 times scored ten times.......... In 2019/20 played 40 games scored six times... In 2020/21 played 17 times scored 4 times. Wednesday have a very solid defence. played four times this season and still to let a goal in. They also have a bit of quality in the middle of the park. I fancy a low scoring draw or 1-0 either way.
I have been rough for quite a while now and finally tested positive for covid on Friday. I wouldn't wish how i feel on a Wednesday fan. If i have only mild symptoms then i am a whimp. I feel like a herd of elephants has walked all over me. Breathless, headache, high temp, irregular heartbeat and persistent cough that keeps you awake most of the night. Stay safe eveybody, enjoy the game and i will be back in ciculation after the Donny game hopefully.
Games (especially derby games) turn on big moments. This isnt a difficult one to analyze. We were much the better side first half, deserved to into half time ahead and blew a guilt edged chance to do so. That was a huge turning point. Wednesday would have gone in at half time thinking it was their lucky day with Cheo - who they couldnt handle - getting injured and Sadlier missing the spot kick. An error from our most consistent player Harding then a howler from Viktor and the game has slipped through out fingers. I'll keep checking back in because whenever we lose it seems to be the managers fault. I'll be interested to see how anyone can find a way to pin that one on him.
Somewhat unfortunate to lose but you gotta stick the ball in the net. Hence, we were not unfortunate.
Ogbene going off was a loss and let them off the hook regarding pressure. Despite that we were still the better side in the first half. One wonders if miller might have been a better swap. Sadlier brought some attacking threat and actually put pressure on them around and in the Box, so for me that's what we are missing. We pretty much bossed the midfield today and created lots down the flanks but too often we are crossing to static players or smudge has been lost as the holdup man in the attack.
Barlasar brought nothing , but rathbone fits in pretty well. Kayode was good , but again we have to be that little but more incisive. We just aren't threatening enough in the Box. Kayode and smudge are both good in the build-up and freddie is a threat in the box but we just don't seem to have the right combo from those 3 .
We have played well in all 4 of our games but we have lost 2. We don't really have a box striker.
smiler the penalty wasn't missed it was saved and a top quality save as well, a missed penalty is when a player misses the target. It is such a shame for Sadlier that it didn't go in, I agree that turned the game. In the first half we played the ball on the floor and both wing backs caused trouble, Ogbene is a delight to watch but he cannot cross his chest, we will miss him as he causes chaos in the opposition defence. Sadlier is no wing back, and keep sticking him there is not good for him or the team, for me the change should have been Kayode wide and sadlier in the middle close to smith, we suffer a lot because when it is Smith and Kayode/Ladapo they do not work as a pair they are too far apart from each other, having an attacker playing closer to Smith would help us. It was nice of Warne to say sadlier did ok when he came on and not to name the players that made the mistakes. We never really looked like scoring, Smith failed to convert the best chance a free header from 4 yards. I thought we played well until their 2nd goal, all three in the middle did well, yes they lost possession a few times but they gave it everything, however the first goal was the central threes fault more than Harding, all three of them got dragged to our right and left a huge space for their player to collect a loose ball and thread the pass in. The second goal was awful handling by the keeper it wasn't a hard shot, but Gregory maybe old but do we have any striker that would have followed in on the chance of a goalkeeper error? They played poorly and beat us 2-0 they have quality throughout the squad we have a handful of quality players and no depth in our squad. I understand the reasons for being cautious with the finances but I am afraid that if we do not gamble a little and give Warne a couple more players, stretch our budget a bit we will sit mid-table to the lower half, the reason is we don't look like we can score goals and we play the ball long when under pressure or we go behind, if Smith goes or gets injured where will the goals come from? If you don't score you lose more than you draw and there is only one result from that. We haven't had a goal poacher at the club on our books since Matt Derbyshire that was 8 seasons (including this one) ago, the two we all name Dicko and More were both loan players, you cannot keep doing this year in year out and expect a long term positive trend. One big criticism of us today was the set plays not once from a free-kick or corner did we create a clear-cut chance, Barlasar took 4 in the last 10 minutes and everyone was awful. I do not blame warne for today, quality of their squad and mistakes cost us the result, however this one dimensional football will cost us big time over the season and as much as I appreciate TS for everything he has done, if we don't back Warne with some more players we could struggle if we lose anyone or get a couple of injuries. I am not this management teams biggest fans, but they deserve to be given the best chance we can, I wouldn't blame Warne from walking away if the board don't step up, there are no guarantees in this world, but the chances will be better if we strengthen.
It is a missed penalty. Warne always backs his players. I would never blame a player for missing a penalty. It takes guts to step up and take one. Although it was a great save, it was a saveable height and at the end of the day it is a golden opportunity gone at a crucial moment. Strong rumour has it that Sadlier asked for a move in the Summer. Not sure if that is true. For me he isnt quick enough or physical enough to play wide. His delivery from set plays and wide areas has been disappointing. If he is going to play it has to be centrally, but we have others ahead of him in the queue there. I think we need a new striker more than we need a fifth choice midfield player who might not be happy. To be clear, anyone can miss a penalty and it was a very good save. I have no axe to grind with Sadlier. It was a huge turning point in the game and there is no getting away from that, but there you go. If we can get a striker in without anyone having to leave and Sadlier is happy to stay, fine. But if we need one out to get one in, Sadlier would be the one I would look to move on if possible. We have plenty of other good midfield players but need something extra up front.
Good match analysis derby but we'll continue to disagree on Sadlier ! Lads in the West Stand reckon there was one, probably two ,offsides in their first goal. Need to see the highlights. We simply dare not sell Smith or we are cooked. Remain of the opinion this chairman is in football ownership to make money so i cannot see the purse strings being relaxed even though we are desperate for at least one quality striker.
smiler, I think you are over simplifying the issue, a striker on his own is unlikely to address the problem, the style of football wwe result to when things are against us, comes from the coaching, you say we have a lot of midfielders do we? we basically have 5 that can play in the middle, a suspension and one injury and we are down to the bones. Ogbene, miller are wide men, sadlier is a No 10. I think if we lose anyone we will suffer, we need the squad we have with a striker maybe two, Kayode is no where near the finished article. As for set pieces this season Barlasar is really coming up short when he plays
Barlaser, Lindsay, Odoffin, Wiles, Rathbone and Sadlier equals six central midfield players Derby. Some more attacking than others and one or two - Sadlier included - could play as a ten if required, but all are essentially central midfield players. We have three strikers, one of whom is a promising player doing a fair job but probably not the answer at the moment as a regular starter, and if we lost Smith through injury we really would be in trouble. We ask him to do 90 minutes of hard week in every single game. I would like to think we could get a striker in without having to lose a midfield player, but up front is where we look light.
To put it another way, if our two best midfield players (whoever you think they are) are out I fancy we could still field a strong midfield three. If Smith and Ladapo are out, we are stuffed.
Difficult game to assess. On top for 25minutes then allowed them into the game. Missed penalty gave them the second half impetuous and from then on we were second best.
What worries me is the naivety that says you can put anybody in the position and call them a wingback. This is a specialist position and is very difficult to play successfully. Also you lose much of Ogbenes threat by not having a fullback to support him. On a number of occasions their fullback showed him the inside onto his weaker foot and it came to nothing.
Up front we are weak neither Jj or Ladapo are up to the required standard, this puts an enormous amount of pressure on Michael Smith. We have not had a forward partnership for years we tend to have individuals playing their own game. Michael Smith cannot shoulder the pressure for 46 games, he will get injured, lose form and what concerns me most he get frustrated and get sent off.
On the point Sadlier playig no10, again a specialist position, I saw nothing yesterday to support that decision. He looked light weight and lacking in pace and determination. He pulled out of a number of challenges, something totally unacceptable.
Without the signing of a least one forward we will not challenge the top teams for promotion.
