He came on in the second half last night in an attacking midfield role. I think he was trying too hard to impress and his first touch looked a bit heavy. I am sure Warne and co will have a good look at him and make a decision after the 'Boro' game.
I thought we were really good in the first half hour playing 3.5.2 with Ogbene and miller playing the wide roles of the midfield five. Barlaser, was the pick for me controlling the game well and influencing the tempo of the game. Miller got a superb cross in and Smith found the net. Lindsay worked so hard in the middle and broke up play well and also helped the defence out on numerous occasions. Wiles had very little impact on the game imo. Ihiekwe , Wood and Harding all performed well. Harding has a bit of physicality about him. I still think Ladapo is a luxury player and he will be judged solely on his ability to score goals(no complaints if he scores around 15 goals).i feel he brings little else. Newcastle came into the game more in the last 15 mins of the first half and the first ten of the second. they really should have scored before they finally equalised. The Viking made one of the best saves i have ever seen to keep it at 1-0.
All in all a good workout against an ordinary premier league side who were without some of their better players in Almiron, Saint maximim and Shelvey. It gave me hope that if our key players stay fit and we add around four more players we could get into the top ten of division one.
We should be okay if PW is allowed to add a few more players to the current squad.
Let's hope Paulinho continues to try and impress the Gaffer et al going forwards. That's what we want at the club.
By the way over 5,000 season tickets have been sold according to OS.

I thought it was a good workout last night Whiston. However, if I was a Newcastle fan, I wouldn't be looking forward to the forthcoming season with what looks like a pretty ordinary set of players.
I think Barlaser will come into his own this season. He was hamstrung last season when his outlet, Ogbene, was injured. This season he will hopefully be able to put the long diagonal balls out to both wings - Miller and Ogbene.
Although impressed with our first half performance, I was alarmed at the lack of depth in the second half and the string of youngsters that entered the pitch. If we don't get some more first team depth in soon, we're going to struggle if we suffer any injury blows - which is almost inevitable.
I think we are singing from the same song sheet Glenn. Totally agree about the lack of depth and this needs addressing now. My one worry about Barlaser is in the third tier you tend to get a lot less space with sides pressing high up the pitch. Newcastle gave him a lot of time and if you do that he has the ability to hurt with those diagonal balls. I really think Ogbene is our main weapon with his ability to go past players at will and get the crosses in (which he has to work on). I would like to think Miller could do the same but i believe the wide left side will be given to Ferguson who is a better defender apparently. Really looking forward to the start of the season.
