Sad state of affairs but as i have said before will very happy surprised it smith, crookes, wiles, barlaser and ogbene pull on a shirt after transfer door closes
It must be very difficult for Tony S, not knowing what our income will be with the potential for Covid restrictions on crowds, so we have to remember we will struggle (like many other clubs) to keep our losses to a minimum.
I'm not too bothered who leaves as long as we get a proper fee for them, we have a bad record in that, apart from when uncle Warnock gives us proper prices...
I'd like to keep Crooks and Barlaser out of those mentioned above.
If we get a decent fee it can free up some of it for incomings - and I agree with Brad on the key positions we need to add.. (depending too on who else leaves)
I guess it will be a few weeks before we see much movement, though I'd like those going out to happen sooner rather than later so it doesn't mess up the squad when we start playing friendlies and prep for new season...
Not too upset about Olosunde. Hes a free agent. Was he worth a big new contract with us, even if we could have afforded one? I dont think so. At times he looked really classy. At other times he looked like a novice. When push came to shove was he a player who I thought we could depend on to step up when the heat was on? I'm not so sure. We got him for free, he did alright for us and he leaves for nothing probably a better and certainly a more experienced player. All good. I hope he does well at Preston.
Olusunde was OK and in some respects he was very good. I really appreciated his old style ability and willingness to stop crosses, a desire and skill in short supply with the era of the modern wing-back .
He can easily be replaced.
Much harder to get strikers and good midfielders.
Crooks and smudge seem the most obviously at risk ...their gain would be our loss.
Irs getting very close to the new season, and we have no new players in. If we can keep everyone its good, very good, but we still need to add at least 5 more first time squad members. Thats how big the task seems to me if we are to challenge for a top 6 .
We certainly don't need loans that don't provide adequate cover. Last season this was an area we messed up. Other teams played the whole season with their loans making up a huge amount of their 1st team. Of course we are curtailed by cost in this area once again. However, at L1 level we should we be competitive.
Loans can be a cheaper and a dynamic option and could make or break our season.
