New striker??

Not seen it mentioned on here so far, but it appears the gaffer is trying to sign Cambridge striker Paul Mullin. Said to have scored 33 goals in 50 appearances. Anyone heard anything about this lad?

Well he certainly had a stellar season in 2020/21, scoring 32 league goals and winning the EFL league two player of the season. He is 26 yrs old and in his previous 214 league games he only scored 41 goals. Could it be he is a JCH late maturing striker? I have to admit i haven't seen him as far as i know. He is not the big six foot plus striker so if he is on our radar it could be a sign we are going to play a different style. According to websites he is 5ft 10in tall.

Our website used to say Jon Taylor was 5ft 10in Whiston.  On that basis Paul Mullin may actually be 5ft 5in!

As you say, Mullin's prolific 2020/21 season was a complete departure from what he had done previously.  I have only seen him on TV during his Tranmere days and he looked useful and hardworking.  He is about to be out of contract, and clearly he has got something going on and is likely to move to a club who can/will pay the wages that a 32 goal striker can demand. He might be a player who has knocked around in the lower divisions and has some hunger about him.

'Rotherham United have quashed speculation about a move for League Two goal-getter Paul Mullin as the club continues to refine its summer target list.'

Must be true, it's in the 'Tiser.

No surprise why would we want a striker that scores goals?

Uttis, good point, what we need is a huge bloke that runs around a lot and can't even get a header on target from 5 yards. I am sure smiler will tell us that the denial is a master stroke by the club to bluff the rest of the football league. There will be a lot of rumours about us, because we have just got relegated and therefore are expected to invest and try to go straight back up, remember we spend £500k on Freddie to do that last time. We just need to sit and wait, it is still May the play-offs are not over yet and most contracts end at the end of June.

I don't believe a word of what I see or hear when it comes to transfer rumours. Clubs play the system, players play the system, agents play the system, supporters are desperate for any news and the media sits in the middle joining it all together. It's a cesspit full of misinformation and disinformation.
