Warne is staying

The club have said they're sticking with Warne for next season regardless of division. Personally I think it's a mistake but time will tell I suppose.

Im with you on this, As we will be prob relegated for 3rd time And i dont think he is learning his lessons from starting 11 ( favorites v prefered) have affected Square peg mentality Wood needs to be a player coach or we need a defensive coach

If his summer recruitment is as bad as last year we'll be lucky to make the top half of L1, let's hope he's learned lessons & gives Kayode his chance.

Johanson, Harding, Barlaser and A. macDonald have been good players, Sadlier has been injured and only started a couple of games and at least looks like he can play. We need a left back as good as harding, a striker that can get 20 goals a season that is different to what we have. Wing has been very good as a loan player, Giles has done ok but the other 3 loans have been awful, don't waste a loan on a keeper find a experienced one that can cover if the Viking is injured.

We have a lot going for us. There is something to build on whichever division we are in. We have people running the club who genuinely care about it. We are financially sound. We will suffer a drop in revenue of we go down but it will be manageable and we will be better placed than most. There are things we could do better and no doubt that will all be reviewed, but the club is in a relatively healthy state.

I would actually rather have a manager who knows the limitations of the job and the difficulty of the challenge and who is committed to giving it a go for the long haul rather than someone who prefers to run away and protect his CV when the going gets tough. The CV has to be seen in context. It is possible to do a good job and still get relegated. Is Gareth Ainsworth a bad manager because Wycombe are going down? I would argue he has actually done a great job. Similarly I think Warne has done a very decent job on the whole this season, whatever happens. He will obviously be gutted if we go down because we havent been far away this season and I think we have been as consistently competitive as in any other Championship season during the NYS era, and on a lower budget than we have had previously. It has been an extraordinary season and we havent had many breaks. The points tally doesnt reflect how competitive we have been unfortunately and that is all that really matters.

I think on balance if he is still motivated to be here this is the right decision and I certainly applaud the early announcement. The stability and certainty is of itself a good thing. I understand that other views are available.

Hardly surprising bearing in mind the wages budget the chairman operates on because quality replacements would just not be interested. I'm happy with Warne in charge but he needs better coaching assistance than relegation expert Barker. Behind every successful manager there is usually a tactically proficient assistant eg Holloway and Steve Thompson,Grayson and Thompson(again !) and Wilder and Knill. I believe Knill did all the Blades coaching and with his future at Bramall Lane uncertain i wouldn't be averse to him replacing Barker. Would love to know how Rob Scott operates. We seem to be relying on assistance and recommendations from Guy Branston (academy loans manager at Leicester).

I'm ok with it, but not excited.

I have to keep saying it ; we are at exactly the right place on the table on merit.

The seasons in L1 were patchy, but good enough to get out of the division. I don't see us looking as good as the 2 promoted clubs from L1 this season so, I guess I'm settling for a top 6. Now, if that is looking dodgy come Christmas 2021 then today's decision will have to be weighed.

I guess everyone, come what may next season will have their answers by then , and we can then move on...

I do hope recruitment is better. I have to say , I thought it was lacking imagination and depth . I do worry that PW does not really fully get the job yet as there are clear issues with tactics, ability to get balance in the squad and appropriate cover. We certainly suffered from having a poor squad and I'm presuming that TS and PW had to trim the wage bill, otherwise it was a very rudimentary and costly decision.

Overall he deserves another crack. Hoping he drops the nurturing side a lot as the way he set off smacked to me of someone lacking in confidence and managerial ability.

I not jumping for joy, this will be his 4 season, And i want tonsee players dropped who are off form no matter who they are. Sadlier 1 bad game dropped Hirst Clarke Compared too Crookes dropped once despite his form Vassell was dire but kept his place because he trained well then loaned out Mattock Wiles Ladapo Everyone was raving ogbene starting. Ermm how many goals he scored .............. v ladapo Im in the minority and i believe he wont change Dont care if he bleeds rufc we need competence someone prepared to make difficult decisions in man management, himself not pass it onto barker . I have to do it everyday in my job as a manager i dont enjoy as im a people managers but you have to be to be successful. We have incompetence in hm gov already dont want anymore at my club.

Well, now we know there is no point in doing anything other than get behind him, so that's what I'll do, at least until November to see how things are.

Depends on who we keep and who we bring in... As everyone has said (and surely the club themselves know), we need at least a left back, central defender and at least two new strikers in addition to Smithy and Freddy.. (strikers not wing backs or attacking midfielders).

We are good-to-go in midfield assuming we don't lose anyone.

I'd try to re-loan Wing and Giles but not sure they would like L1. Hirst, Jozey and Blackman obviously to go back, though it would not surprise me if Warne tries to get Balckman back..

As I said on other thread - my biggest worry is who we might lose in the summer.

I am still of the opinion that we will be playing in league one next season. If that is the case i would be surprised if Crooks, Olosunde, Ladapo and possibly Smith are still at the club. I think we should not offer a new contract to S.McDonald. Not sure whether Clarkes contract is up but if it is then time to say goodbye to him.

On the recruitment, we definitely need a left back(defensive) as i think Mattock can only be a squad player in his last year. Miller will be back and he should be fine if we are relegated, as should Sadlier, who are both left sided.I firmly believe we do need a midfield player ,but one that is totally different to what we have got. A ball winner and a leader. S.McDonald tried to do the role but his legs were gone imo. The only way i would look at a centre back is if we were to move two or three of them on. We have Cooper, Ihiekwe, McDonald, Robertson, Tilt and Wood. Harding can also play central defence. Kayode will be back, but i do expect one of Smith or Ladapo to be sold. This is the area that will decide how well we do if we are in division one. We have to invest in at least one decent signing up front. If we get some good money from a couple of sales then i think T.S needs to push the boat out and get the striker we have been lacking for at least three or four seasons. It is a big ask to get a decent striker but i am sure they are out there. Time for recruitment to come up with the goods. We have the basis of a good squad but it needs some of that word quality adding to it, whatever division we are in.

Here we go again with Warne favourites. I cannot find any evidence of this and i am still to be convinced by anybody who says he picks his favourites. Is Wood one, if he is take a look at the stats when he plays and when he doesn't. You think Crooks is one, Hillsbrough, yet he is the only player who i can remember who has won a championship player of the month. I will add yet again that the stats on Crooks are up there with the best in the league not just at RUFC. But we pick him because he is Warne's blue eyed boy. Aye ok. If you say Crooks and Wiles need a rest because they look tired i might give it some relevance, but favourites, no.

I will make my last comment on Clarke. I have seen very little of him i will admit that. What i have seen is, he looks weak, lacks positional sense, not to be trusted defensively and in the little opportunities he has had has not took his chance or caught the eye. The management team see him training and watch him closely but it looks like they don't trust him to do a job. That is good enough for me. I will finish by saying i still have nightmares about his 26 minute horror show at Solihull Moors. He looked like a fifteen year old kid playing in a mans game. All about opinions and that is where i stand.
