...the breaking news of the clubs, and especially the English clubs who have signed up to the proposal for a European super league may be the most dreadful piece of football news ever.
On the other hand let them rot and go. Perhaps we can then have a domestic league that is truly representative.
It's all very well the good and the old bemoaning this god-awful and disgraceful action , but where have they been while the Premier league carved up our national game...no ******* where.
So much for the FA and its fit and proper person test , and so much for any idea of salary caps and other measures to maintain a semblance of competition. So much for UEFA and its integrity and the fake outrage that their capitalist greed model might be superceded by a bigger and greedier fish.
That being said, it should be that every real football fan would protest as strongly as possible against the creation of this behemoth. Let's see what the so called passionate fans of our big six do...I suspect many of them may have on eye on the keyboard and another on their super league season pass.
In summary , I'm not sure I care too much, as I, and the supporters of just about every English team have been royally ****** for the last 20 plus years. It's with a sort of sadness, but also a kind of hope that I want the "super clubs" to **** off , and leave English Football alone and maybe we get a chance to go back to a sustainable model of domestic football. Those of a pure football heritage will understand.

European Super League? Let them crack on with their plans. Allow them to **** off. ESL will be doomed anyway. Maybe then the Premier League money can then be shared out more evenly by the clubs in the English Football League.
Let's have a levelling up of the playing field. Those self styled super clubs will be like the Prodigal Sons of old. Let them have their short lived fun in the sun.
Tens of thousands of football supporters across the World share Gary's disgust at the proposed ESL plan.
The main driver is greed. It spawned the Premier League and the Champions League, and this Super League is the next logical step down the road. There are no good guys here. The clubs concerned should be but won't be ashamed.. The Premier League squealing about it stinks of hypocrisy. The next tier of clubs - the Evertons, West Hams, Leicesters etc - will complain but they were nowhere to be seen when Bury went under for the sake of what they pay their squad in a weeks wages. I couldnt really care less whether it happens or not. The integrity of the game was lost years ago - this move will make very little difference.
By the way, in what way are Tottenham 'Super'? They have never won the European Cup / Champions League and it is sixty years since they won the domestic league. They are currently sixth in the Premier League, which is about the average for them over the last few seasons. Or were they just in the right chair when the music stopped? Presumably if the music had stopped in 1981 Nottingham Forest would have made it. I think Spurs were in the second tier around that time. What a farce.
Should the disgraceful 6 be booted out of the Premier League, what chance 6 replacement clubs will be promoted from the Championship meaning that they'll be no relegation from the Championship this season? There might be something positive come out of the debacle after all!
I have no issue with an immediate expulsion for the 6. Its quite clear they are bullying. I do not tolerate bullies.
I feel the evolution of football and its not been good for anyone bar the owners and the ridiculous money for the players. I might be out of order , but ,I'd be happy to burn the whole top league to preserve and indeed have a chance of not just maintaining English football integrity, but indeed rolling it back to make it more fair.
We have to wait ...no doubt money will sway many and the guts needed to part ways with these bullies will be ultimately in short supply.
Unfortunately everyone will come at this from a position of self interest. None of the 14 PL clubs squealing about this give a toss about the lower divisions. Sky are up in arms about the integrity of the game but they didnt worry about that when the PL was formed after a similar breakaway and they had the tv rights. Even Glenn is looking for the angle that suits us best !!! Disgraceful !!! 🤣 Seriously, there isnt much to like about the beautiful game any more. Most of the players are serial cheats. The laws of the game have been tampered with to the point where it is more like VR Chess than the game I remember. There are shady characters and charlatans almost everywhere you look in terms of ownership of clubs. I believe our Chairman to be one of the few honourable exceptions, but there arent too many like him. Betting companies, often with names plastered on shirts in chinese characters, leech off the game to make billions. Fans increasingly demand 'success' at all costs and spiteful vitriol on twitter (in particular) and message boards is an everyday occurrence, particularly after a loss. They can take an honourable position when they want to, but they dont mind who their club is owned by as long as whoever it is pumps money in to generate more wins than defeats. The whole circus really does stink. I can sympathise with people who bin off professional football and prefer to watch non league or sunday morning stuff, or who bin it off completely. Whether we stay up in or go down from the Championship feels quite irrelevant all of a sudden.
The whole of English football needs a massive overhaul from the Premier League down to League Two after those deluded 'super clubs' go and play in the ESL. The ESL where clubs play each other for a limited number of games to achieve what exactly? The outright winner of the ESL receives a trophy and then what? Even the club that eventually finishes bottom of the ESL table won't be relegated. Yep, the European Super League Circus where players are paid millions of euros and nothing really to play for. Might look good on paper but the novelty will soon fade away. The boring doom laden ESL project is just a fantasy.
Bring back Leagues One to Four. Let's have some decent inward investment into the lower league clubs. The Premier League has had its run. Place a cap on players' wages. The Government, the FA and Football League along with clubs and supporters' groups might need to implement an innovative strategy to review, save and protect the game from the billion dollar consortiums/greedy bar stewards.
Football supporters across England and beyond deserve better than what is being dished up at the moment.
Are we really surprised at the latest proposals. The move is purely motivated by profit following a year of lockdown restrictions that have strangled some of the clubs income. It is estimated that the worlds 20 richest football clubs are on course to miss out on 2 billion in revenue by the end of the season because of the pandemic.
Football was handed to big business at the expense of fans a long time ago. Principles have been squashed in pursuit of the business culture. Club owners are worried about forthcoming T.V deals. There have been big reductions in the value of t.v contracts in Italy and France. The Premier League will start the auction for its 2022-25 broadcasting rights this year.
Football clubs relationship with Big Business means all key decisions are motivated by profit- Not what the fans want.
Looks like the super league is flailing. I hope the attempt to dismantle whats left of our historic national game does not just ebb away being forgotten , but remembered as the wake up call we heeded. . Let's have some follow thru and get a statute on the books to prevent a club leaving the country, or any league in any guise whatsoever.
Let's also have a bill to give supporters resident in Britain and season ticket holders a 70% stake in any future decisions regarding playing in leagues and new contracts with TV and uefa . We need radical development .
The fans deserve that assurance at least

While we're at it Ian, how about restrictions on the amount of players attached to clubs - thinking of Chelsea's 13 or so goalkeepers. So many good players are restricted from playing by the rich clubs tying up talent so that no one else can get their hands on them.
While we're at it, how about a limit on the number of foreign players allowed in the starting XI. Despite the number of quality professionals in Premier League sides, the football is clinical and, frankly, boring. Get some homegrown talent in there to add a bit of spirit.
While we're at it, how about taking the kick off times out of the hands of the TV companies. No more Sunday midday kick offs please.
I could go on endlessly but I'm trying to move house!!
I have to counter Isn’s suggestion about giving fans a stake in the running of clubs. Having read (with dismay) the various message boards this season i don’t think i’d want Rotherham fans anywhere near the running of the club.
Anyway, back on topic, i see the super 6 have withdrawn. I doubt this is over and joining may have been a bluff to try and gain a bigger stake if the premier league TV money, they certainly won’t stop being greedy overnight...
The European Super League/Eurovision Super League Project is about to meet its own Waterloo.
Now that the six English Premier League clubs have pulled out, shouldn't some heads roll for conspiring for even thinking about and wanting to join such a dastardly outrageous project in the first place?
A few words for the Eurovision Super League conspirators. You currently have Nil Points in the popularity stakes.
I think tonight is a must win game. Somehow we have to get a minimum of nine points imo if we are to have any chance of staying up. Barnsley and Brentford look very difficult games to get anything out of. I do think we could get something against Luton and possibly Blackburn at home. That would leave Cardiff at home on the last day of the season.
I don't know the fitness of the squad so it is difficult to know who will play. Surely Barlaser has to come back into the team. Lindsay should start and i think he will probably start with Smith and Ladapo up front. The problem is the attacking left side. Giles, Wiles and possibly Sadlier might be given a start. I will take a stab at this line up
Viking
Harding Wood Robertson
Olosunde Wiles Barlaser Lindsay Sadlier
Ladapo Smith
Plenty of choice from the bench in Giles, Crookes, Ogbene the McDonalds and Ihiekwe.
