Is it too early to throw in the towel? Have we been light heavyweights up against heavyweights most of this season? Looks like we've been punching above our weight most of this current Championship campaign. We've looked tired and ring rusty during some games. Think we've now lost the fight.
We are well behind on points and not likely to win by a knockout any time soon.

I don't think we need a new manager or even a chairman. They are both good ...we need more money. I think it's that simple , but as you said , reality is much less attractive than fantasy.

If one has followed the Millers for any length of time, or if one looks and makes an assessment of the merits of change at small clubs then it seems to me that we are in the ring and having our title shot.
Spot on Ian. Did you see the accounts published by Reading? To the year ended June 20 (so hardly impacted by the pandemic) they lost over £40m. Their loss was three times our total turnover. They spent over twice as much on wages alone as they actually received as income from all sources. Their average crowds are a tiny bit more than ours, but they pay £17.5k per week to players on average. That's three to four times our number. They are over £100m in debt and propped up by a Chinese entrepreneur who was reportedly in potential hot water with the Chinese state for alleged dubious financial activities. And at the end of that season they finished mid-table. How do we compete with that? And they arent unusual. Substitute Wednesday, Derby, Birmingham, Brentford, QPR and numerous others for Reading and you would have a similar picture, and they are all clubs who dont have the £40m parachute payments that others have enjoyed. We arent competing on a level playing field. Players win football matches, and they all have better players than us because they pay more and the better players go where the money is. Over 46 games that will usually make the difference. It isnt quite that simple, but that is a massive factor.

Yes, the money is nothing short of astronomical for these other clubs. The league is nowhere near even being competitive. We really do have to absorb the facts and the reality conclusions .
RUFC, are nothing short of a minor miracle club at present.
I agree it isn't a level playing field and the authorities make it worse each year. Their financial fair play rules are designed to not solve the problem but purely make it look like they are doing something, at the same time they allow clubs to continue to operate in huge amounts of debt. The parachute payments shouldn't go to relegated clubs in this way, to rewards failure. The money should be split across the league and mostly forced spend on academies, also all clubs should have to have 3 academy players in their first 15. Any player than enters a league from outside that league and is not register with a club goes into a draft system and is given a 2 year deal with a capped salary that is funded by the parachute payments. It would cause chaos for a few seasons but over time we would achieve more balance
The parachute payments are an artificial construct designed to allow clubs who go up to the PL a chance to have a go at staying their by spending some money on the knowledge that they have a safety net if they dont manage to stop up there. That might work to make the PL more competitive (arguably) but it creates a horrible imbalance in the Championship. How can it be right that a club like Bournemouth - who at their core are about the same size as us - can start the season with a free gift that on it's own gives them four times our total turnover? It cant be. Let's be honest - Wycombe never had a hope in hell of staying up this season. The fact that they have made a fist of staying in touch has been a tremendous credit to them. I hear a lot that the Championship is a great league but in my opinion there is a lot about it to dislike. Interesting ideas from Derby. The authorities definitely need to have a radical overhaul to make the professional game viable long term.

Such commonsense and fair play will unfortunately never be allowed to happen when the people involved in football are such greedy *******s and really don't actually love the game itself. Their success is so hollow it's shameful
What with The Sky Blues, Coventry City then The Blues, Birmingham City. No wonder I'm feeling it this morning particularly after last night's defeat to The Boro. Up next is Barnsley then The Bees, Brentford. Then dare I say it, Blackburn.
Some of us may be feeling blue others may be seeing red after that goddam awful performance and excuse for a referee whose name I'll not mention on here.
Why don't we just form a breakaway league just for Yorkshire Clubs where no club gets promoted and no club gets relegated?
