I think it helps to be reminded of the vast gulf between clubs and thus the incredible job that is being done day in and day out by all connected with our beloved club.

If there is one fly in the ointment it all gets spoilt.

Bournemouth are and for a few years have been propped up by a Russian petrochemicals oligarch. They arent a bigger club than us at their core. Inevitably their bubble will one day burst.

Smiler, that can be levelled at many, many clubs.

Fact is money has always and will always prop some clubs up.

However, it makes me thankful for our current sustainable model. That being said, even we have had to have modest loans to keep going let alone shoot for the big time.

The money at the top is astronomical.

All that being said, I'd like it if we were a little better off.

The hierarchy in football is always going to be determined by money, whether that be legitimately earned or creatively accounted funds. Even if the influx of funds from Sky, Oligarchs, Princes etc were taken away, the hierarchy would be dictated by legitimately earned money, mainly gate receipts, but supplemented by hospitality/commercial sales. Whichever way funding is accrued, Rotherham is always going to be in the 'relatively poor' category - unless someone in the area who is interested in the club develops a $billion business.

The good thing about our situation is that we are on relatively firm ground and we know where we stand. For the likes of Bournemouth, who in essence are a smaller club, the situation is always going to be one that could change at any moment if the funding is withdrawn. So for all their recent success, give me the Millers' set-up any day.
