Pre season, myself and a few others were screaming that we needed cover for Mattock.
He's proven season after season that he is capable on a good day, but spends a lot more games recovering from whatever ails him, depending on the direction of the wind...
Now he's out longer term - it's come back to bite us.
This is going to give us an issue now, and MUST be the first position we sort out in January FFS
We have got Shaun MacDonald, Ogbene, Mattock, Sadlier and Robertson out with long term injuries. I think Robertson is a recurrence of a previous injury (not certain) The rest are all new injuries, three of which were sustained in matches and one (Ogbene) in training. I have read that muscular injuries are up about 40% on a normal season which is being attributed to fixture congestion and we have had one or two of those, but I'm not sure what you can do to prevent the long term injuries we have suffered. They are all freakish impact injuries. I'm not sure Derby whether you are suggesting that having a struggling team somehow causes long term injuries or that picking up long term injuries can lead to a team struggling. Or a bit of both. I'd be genuinely interested to know. Having these players all out during a run of nine games in a month certainly isnt helping.
Who is he going to play there Clarke Jones Wiles Harding?. Manager kept saying he was going to bring in cover at left back he then says we have enough cover paying the price now. Going back to my point about being some young players through wish there was a young John Breckin coming through only a dream with this manager.

smiler, as always you make good points. To be honest i am speculating, based on what i have heard and read over the years about how players can behave when a team is struggling or in a relegation fight. This is not about the injuries themselves but how players recover, when a team is struggling it isn't unknown for players to drag out their recovery or play on previous injuries. I have no evidence this is happening at Rotherham, I am just saying that if players do that then we will have key players out longer.
It's an interesting theory. I'm sure they can tell a real injury from a fake one, but when it comes to putting in the work to do the rehab some might put more work in than others. Perhaps they arent as motivated to return to a struggling side. There might be something in it. You hear about players who seem to improve when their contracts are up for renewal. Nuihu at Wednesday was often cited for that.
David, Gregg Leigh is signing in Jan he is at Aberdean proving his fitness it was all agreed in the summer he was looking at property with Barker near where you lived a few weeks ago
They also have a deal lined up for a new centre forward who scores goals, only problem is he has never played in Championship but hey with our budget you have to take s punt
