Crooks

I've changed my mind about him. He's still not a central midfielder. He's not a tackler or passer. But played behind the lone striker he gets in goalscoring positions & takes his fair percentage of chances that comes his way. Obviously we need a goalscorer even if it's only enough to make the difference this season.

It has been a slow time for Millers News. Gwru must be missing getting his usual kicks, so out goes the bait. I won't be taking it.

What bait! I saw Crooks different last game. Think he could be useful for us.

Does 'I've changed my mind about him' mean the same as I was wrong? You've been slagging him off for over a year now. Since you go to home games. mean all, I reckon that you saw him play maybe 20 times last season. And your constantly defamatory opinion was changed when he came on for 20 minutes against Preston?

He's the same player. He was the highest scoring midfielder in League One last season, as was pointed out to you by several people, but you chose to stubbornly ignore that fact (fact, not opinion).

And your get-out clause of 'performances change my opinions' really holds no water.

I think you've just taken the bait TC! On the basis of taking the only chance that came his way during a substitute appearance, in the mind of your opening poster Crooks has gone from 'not good enough for the Championship' to being the key to our survival in it. Anyone who followed us last season and saw not only his record but the nature of many of his goals must have known that he can finish. Quite why any of this has caused gwru to have a moment of Crooks Enlightenment now is a total mystery, unless of course he is just bored and fancies winding somebody up. It is all too stupid for words.

No wind up. I just saw something in Crooks I hadn't seen before in the championship. You've got to judge at the level you are playing. What I saw in Crooks was * you attitude I like. I want to get on the end of chances. Goalscorers are selfish got to be.

I'm a big fan of Matt Crooks, but apart from score, I personally don't think he did a lot against when he came on against Preston, so quite what gwru saw in 20 minutes that he hadn't seen in the previous 18 months I've no idea. Having said that I'm not really interested in gwru's opinions on Crooks as I don't really respect any of his opinions on football. What I am in interested in however, is his new found ability to post in reasonably coherent English. What's happened there?

Crooks was pretty ordinary against Preston but took his goal well. Last time we were in the Championship he came on at Stoke as a sub and turned the game round almost single handedly from 2-0 down to 2-2 He scored a good goal and was denied the winner by an incredible save from Englands then goalkeeper Butland. Highlights are still available on your favourite medium - YouTube. It isnt a surprise Gwru that you got it wrong about a player you wrote off. He is the most recent in a very long list there. The astonishing thing is that you wrote him off in the first place, and have changed his mind based on abdolutely nothing new. It's real head shaker.

I am no fan of Crooks as far as I am concerned he is pinching a wage. Barlaser Lindsey Wiles S Mcdonald pity he got injured all busting a gut for the team. According to our manager he might have had his head turned with the transfer talk that might be the reason in some games he just didn't look interested.

Unless Hirst comes good we haven't got a striker good enough to play the no. 10 role, definitely not Vassell. Crooks that's his best role. Warney worries me. If I know whose not good enough he should. Same with the keeper. Blackman no. Not sure about Johansson. I'd like to see what Vickers can do.

You don't know anything about players. That has been proven over and over again. A few of your quickfire assessments come good but you are wrong on the overwhelming majority. A blindfolded monkey who has never seen a football match and who is randomly putting a needle into a list of players would have more success than you at identifying the good ones.

Vassell Warney tried to get shut of him before the last league 1 season & he's still here in the championship. Why?

You dont know that about Vassell. Who told you that? What I heard is that Salford and one other club put bids in for him and we didnt want him to leave. In any case, I wasnt talking about any particular player. I was talking about your appalling track record. Your success rate at talent sporting is way below what a nursery child would achieve just on the law of averages. If you want, I will give you a list of players who have arrived during Warne's time as manager who you have been obviously wrong about. You can give me a list of players you have obviously been right about. Do you want to play?

Tell me Saturday out of wingers, midfielders & forwards we've got who we bring on good enough? Flo Lindsay Barlaser Wiles; Crooks; Ladapo start I can only see Miller & potentially Hirst. There's only Ogbene & Sadlier out of the injured players to add to that. Got to bring back Kayode in January.

gwru, aren't you bored of saying the same old crap time after time? I know I'm bored of reading it. Only your Ian is interested in what you say, maybe just give him your opinions directly and spare us the mind numbing torture?

Tell me then who we've got to bring on apart from Miller & potentially Hirst to change anything. Reading tizer Warney he's on about Vassell, Blackman. Hope I never see them in a Roth U shirt again.
