Freddie's miss.

The worst miss I can remember in 48 years of following the club, can anyone remember a worse one?

I'm going to put it down to the fact that Freddie is an instinctive finisher and that he perhaps had too much time to think about which bit of the net to hit with it. I'm trying to be kind! Theres no getting away from it - it was a shocker. It want the only mistake a player made today though and he is getting a goal a game at the minute and on course for 20 plus for the season. I hope he doesn't dwell on that one missed chance - we need him to stick the next one away whenever it comes along.

9th March 1968 - FA Cup 5th round against Leicester at Millmoor. Steve Downes skied over the bar from a yard out. We drew 1-1 and went on to lose the replay at Filbert Street 2-0. And yes - I feel bloody old recalling that memory!

Matt Derbyshire missed one even worse against Norwich the year we had the points took off us for the Rawson transfer.

Cannot be sure but wasn’t the header from Neal Haugh going in.

I agree with the too much time comment. He expects to have half a second to decide and for that one he could have waited for a kettle to boil and made a cup of tea before deciding. Let's remember he had already scored though...

Put Rotherham v Leicester 1967/68 part 2 into You Tube and judge for yourself!

Although I was at the game with my old dad, I remember very little about it except the twice taken penalty and the injury to Tiler; and what about Rod Fern with hair!! Not much finesse in those day, or so it seems.

Defenders clearance....although his back is to goal he has to hook a heavier ball and has players all round him.

Ladapo facing goal, had time, open goal nobody around him...its a shocker

It was an awful miss and it affected him for the rest of the game. However he is scoring goals Smith needs 3 chances to get 1 on target and 7 to score a goal. He had a free header from 4 yards yesterday and missed the goal his heading ability in the box is terrible, he rarely gets over the ball he rarely beats a defender to a header in the box and his anticipation ahead of a cross is that of a piece of wood. He works hard and hassles and that is what PW loves but as a goal scorer he just doesn't have it, even for a good league 1 striker.

I'm sure Freddie lost some sleep last night replaying that in his head...

But give him a break, he's been lethal lately and won us a lot of games... we can forgive him that one.

As some others have said, Smudge misses good chances on a regular basis, yesterday the first half header near the post should have gone in, all he had to do was head it straight, but he missed the target.

Overall though, we've been MUCH better this season at taking our chances.

We need to start winning at home again.. We missed Barlaser yesterday big time, although I thought Crooks was MOM based on second half. In my opinion Lindsay is not good enough on current form and also that both Thompson and Jones are better right backs than Olosunde (most of their threat came down his side, same as in a lot of games, he gets caught out too often for my liking..)

Frustrating draw... but we nearly lost.

David I agree about right back, to say Lindsey isn't good enough is a strange comment the lad has hardly played

Lindsay played well at the weekend, he put in a very good cross second half which no one anticipated.

Right to point out Smith’s two headers, he should have buried them as well.
