Got to play 4 in midfield as we saw at the weekend it's not working any team we play will probably have 5 in midfield hunt in packs as Lincoln did we are easy expecting another defeat. Message For gwru they are the real supporters who turn up to watch that load of garbage we have become tomorrow night.
This and the next game are very difficult a good test for the new players and the manager. If they struggled with the pressure on saturday I hope the management team have addressed that, perhaps playing away will be easier for them, who knows. As with every game I hope we win and Warne and Barker deliver we have the talent capable so we will see.
Hinds can't play so assume Kayode can't. Doesn't leave us many options but wouldn't play Olosunde or Mattock, Smith also. Iversen Ihiewke Cooper Wood Robertson Wiles Lindsay Barlaser Morris Proctor Ladapo.
The forwards were all making similar runs on Saturday and the midfield players didn't do enough to dictate play. We were disjointed. Its early days and it needs time and a bit of work. I am honestly not bothered one bit about the cup competitions, but if this game has any value it is that it is an opportunity for the players to play together in another competitive fixture and work on getting it right. I am more interested in the performance than the result, if that makes sense.
After last season's inept displays I can't see any reason to be optimistic for 2019/2020. We are not at the races if it goes on much longer I can see the crowd turning on the manager there were mutterings on Saturday. Ì can see us getting nothing tomorrow night.

I can see where Smiler is coming from when he says ' i am more interested in the performance than the result' I also see his points about the midfield not dictating play and the forwards making similar runs. So what does Warne do ? Field a similar side and gain match practice, change it around or is it possible to alter the formation. All this will be put into the mix. i still believe he will rest a few key players like he did against Man Utd u21's.
Lincoln played a 4.2.3.1 formation which gives you a bit more insurance in front of the back four and in Jack Payne they had an outlet who could drive them forward. He was a free from Huddersfield i believe so they are out there. I think Ben Wiles could develop into this type of player. I would like to see a change tonight because i believe if we go away with 4.3.3 to a place like Burton they will grind us down.
Here is something i would like us to try out.
Iversen
I think Warne will play whatever he thinks is his best side barring injuries. We need to get some confidence and momentum going. Of course a win would help with that but I stand by what I said about the performance mattering more than the result. Burton away on Saturday is the one that really matters.
It is interesting by the way that Warne was panned by his detractors last season for plying one up front, but many of the same people would have you believe that he was out-thought and out-manoeuvred on Saturday by the Cowley brothers who played....well, you know the rest. I suppose all our views are influenced to some extent by what our starting point is.
Interesting comments by Warne in that he says if anyone doesn't like 4-3-3 it’s him himself.
My take is that we need a CB in as quick as possible so we can go 3-5-2. This would give us more width, bodies in midfield and we’d be able to pair Smith and Ladapo together in a two, which you’d think at league one level would be pretty good.
That's another option C. If you play three at the back the central one needs to have a lot of pace. Ajayi could have done that job well.
The other option is Gwru's 4.4.2. I totally agree with Ladapo and Smith being a good option as i think smith would be a great foil for Ladapo. However, its the wide men that are the worry. The only one on our books,Lamy has had a setback and will need several weeks before he comes into contention. Warne also said he was not considering him just yet and needs time. I am not going tonight but will look with interest at the team and how he sets up.
3-5-2 is a specialised formation. We haven't got wing backs. 4-3-3 no chance cause none of our strikers can play wide. 4-4-2 got to be the way to go in this league. 1st priority is a left wide player for that. Wiles can play right midfield with Olosunde getting forward. Tonight I definitely wouldn't play Olosunde or Mattock. Would like to see what Lindsay can do. Iversen Ihiekwe Cooper Wood Robertson Lindsay Barlaser Macdonald Wiles Morris Ladapo tonight. Know I've put Wiles on the left but he's clever enough to adapt. We haven't a left wide player fit or in the squad so needs must.
My nemisis Brad the Miller back to his sartoriàl best. Ìf we lose tonight we go out of the competition we get nothing except a long journey home simples. With our poor displays in the midfield we need àt least another body there with the players we have got the penny should have dropped by now. Ì hope someone with your mènsa brain could work that one out. Ì still very much hope we get a win tonight and I get a right royal pasting tomorrow.
Just an observation gwru, you are on record saying that you cant play players out of position and yet you've got four out of position there in one team.
I'm starting from the perspective that Saturday was a one-off which was influenced dramatically by the conditions and, on another day, Rotherham would have been 2-0 up at half time, going on to win comfortably and everyone on Banter would be in agreement that Warne is a genius! Dream on.
I see no reason to change our 4-3-3 approach yet and am willing to give it 10 games before condemning it. However, there were some reasonable comments made about our inability to change the game after it got away from us - the infamous Plan B. So tonight, I would persist with 4-3-3 and go with the following line up;
