TOWELL SIGNS FOR SALFORD FC

So much for the tea boys loyalty I bet he is being played a good screw per week still think Wiles is a better player and Crooks will do well in div 1 see who we bring in we need a midfielder who can tackle and hold the ball plus another Frecklington.

TBH Salford are throwing money right left & centre. They bought Adam Rooney from Aberdeen last summer & reportedly paid him £7k a week in non league so it was a no brainer for Richie. He struggled in the Championship but did well for us in L1 so he should turn out to be a good signing for L2 Salford. Good luck to the lad.

I won't miss Richie Towell, who was disappointing last season. Salford fans can get used to seeing him with his head in his hands a lot after yet another not-so-near-miss., although if he is happy playing in League Two he should do ok there.

I haven't read any reports about this but I am guessing that there will be lots of talk about buying into the project, exciting times ahead, liked what the manager had to say blah blah blah. Money talks. I doubt that Salford are long-term sustainable. You can buy promotions by throwing money around but you can't build a real football club with roots overnight. They might go through League Two and even League One in a hurry but the story of Salford City FC won't ultimately end well. That is what my crystal ball is telling me.

The usual premier league balls when someone arrives from Bolivia or Armenia or wherever is 'it was always my dream to play for (insert name of highest bidder) when I was growing up'. I guess Towell can't really say that about Salford, but still 'I enjoyed the do***entary' isn't ever so convincing if that's the reason he's given. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with going where the money is if that's the motivation. I just wish players wouldn't take supporters for fools. Perhaps I am doing him a disservice. I haven't seen the do***entary.

Salford got average crowds of 2500 last season in a promotion campaign and were reportedly paying their top earners £7k a week. Their crowds won't increase greatly this season but it looks like their wage bill will. What is that all about? It's difficult to see what the end game looks like for them.

I got no bother with Salford and the 'never win owt with kids' - I hope they do build a sustainable club. How many clubs are run by billionaires or as part of a portfolio for a 500Index company who actually do nothing good for this world? Least City are run as a football club top to bottom by people who've been in football and most from the absolute depths of the pyramid. I hope the project continues, as for Towell, he thought he was better than what he was, bit of an ego that his football couldn't back up. A centre mid who doesn't exactly bring anything to the table, what would you say Towell was good at? - cos I can't think of anything particular.

Sorry to be the dissenting voice but I thought Towell was good; he had energy and solid commitment, could shoot and drive the game forward. He was more like Frecklington than anyone else we have. I dont rate Crooks - hes clumsy on the ball and easy to play round. Its a short career and nobody cares about you once its over so if he can get ££ from them then he should. Good luck Ritchie from me.

Good Luck to Richie, but for me he was always looking to score the next worldy for his own 5 mins of fame, rather than try and pss it to create for the team.

When Towell was on, and he seemed to run around a lot with the ball and be beaten in a tackle, where as Crooks looks and plays the ball a lot better.

2/3 touches for towell is crooks one touch - i noticed this when watching Crooks last play.

sometime this approach by crookes was lost on the players that he was passing to, and the ball was lost.

Newell for me can go, we thank him for his service with the Millers, we've seen some cracking goals but we move on.

Grant Ward / Adeyami /Dicko - No thanks,

Surely we can do better than this crop of potential medicine room attendees, whats Scott been doing for the past few weeks.

Better first season than second and for me struggled for pace and power and probably not good enough control at that level.

Certainly felt he didnt influence the game and seemed lost at times.

Nothing much to say or feel about Salford too negatively or positively at mo. I know thats probably not what some think of them given their profile at present. Still, it will be another team for those around them (probably us sometime soon) to compete against and a win will be very enjoyable.

I know they are hoping for sustainable championship football-but isnt everyone!!!!!
