Congratulations to Liverpool for coming from a 3-0 deficit to win last night never been a fan of there's but I will always give credit were credit is due. Ì know they have got the mega bucks but I know when a manager has got the best out of his players. Just goes to show you what happens when you are not scared of your opponent. Going back to our last season I can only recall the Hull game away when we went 2-0 down and showed the guts to fight back rest of the time we were scared rabbits just like our manager out of his depth I am still scratching my head wondering why he is still here. Ì bet the Barcelona manager is gone after that result.

Already said my views about Liverpool fc. Warney he's still the manager cause he won't ruffle any of Tony Stewart's feathers. Evans did. Warnock & Jackett couldn't/wouldn't work to our budget.

When I read those two posts they conjure up an image of Waldorf and Statler, only without the humour.

I thought I had seen us come from two down at Stoke and bang on the door for a winner only to be foiled by their England keeper, but perhaps I imagined that and also the last second winner at QPR, the two late goals to win at home to Swansea, the late equaliser at Reading, the late fightback at home to the promotion winning Blades, and the brave efforts at Swansea and WBA where TH Millers confidently predicted another 'hammering' to add to the...erm...three that we got in 46 games. That would be the WBA, Stoke and Swansea who have about £60m a year more than us to spend by the way.

Gwru you mention Warnock as have a few posters. Did Warnock fail at Cardiff this season, or is he not to blame for their relegation?

Was a shambles last season. Hardly any excitement. But I'm there next season. Been worst times being a Roth U supporter.

No acknowledgment of the fact that in various games we have come back and shown fight and spirit? No acknowledgment of the fact that we have at least competed in all but three games? No answer on whether Warnock has failed this season or not? No, just repeats of the same drivel. Predictable but still disappointing. The answer on Warnock is obvious. He failed to keep them up but by any sensible measure did a good job. He did as much as he could against clubs with massive amounts more by way of resources than was at his disposal. He did that by fostering a strong team spirit and playing football that wasn't always pretty but kept them in most games with a chance, although inevitably they got a few thumpings. A close third from bottom was better than most predicted at the start of the season. Sound familiar?

smiler we were optimistic for this season after league 1 play off win at Wembley. Championship this season got to poor if Sheff U get automatic promotion. We only needed a left winger & a Frecks type midfielder but we didn't recruit nowhere good enough. We should never have gone down but if you don't strengthen when needed you know what's going to happen. Regards Warnock bet it was a dam sight more exciting at Cardiff than at Roth U.

Do you think so? We got marginally more points per game and goals per game than Cardiff did. Our home goal difference is -6 and Cardiffs is -17. Their season was remarkably similar to ours. Their crunch game was at home to Palace last week and they were outplayed and lost 3-2, very much like our home game against Birmingham. On almost every issue, Cardiif were to the Premier League what we were to The Championship.

I for one wasn't optimistic for the 18/19 season gwru. I thought we had all on trying to stay up. It was blindingly obvious that we were going to struggle. Almost every Miller I know thought and said the same before a ball was kicked. Tony Stewart was the only voice I heard talking about mid-table as if it was really a possibility, which was a shame. Warne himself made no bones about the size of the task that was ahead.

I don't think Warnock failed. I don't think Warne failed either. I am not necessarily saying that Warne is as good a manager as Warnock either. I am just saying that you can't have it all ways. You can't say that Warne has to carry the can just because we got relegated but excuse Warnock just because you might rate him. You can be a good manager and do a good job against the odds and come up short. Warnock has done that this season. Wagner at Huddersfield didn't do a lot wrong either. Dyche was good at Burnley despite them going down a couple of seasons ago and they stuck with him and were right to do so.

Warne took over a club in disarray when nobody else would and restored some pride, got a promotion in his first full season which was remarkable given how battered most of the players had been the season before, and has come up just short this season when trying to accomplish what would have been an amazing achievement. Of course he has made mistakes because he is a human being, but when you take a step back away from it he really hasn't done a lot wrong in his time with us. Everyone but a minority of our own supporters can see it, but we do have a minority (and thankfully it is a minority) who love a good moan at any opportunity. THMiller wanted Vaulks out for having the audacity to play international football while he served a league suspension, for goodness sake. I suppose all clubs have them. Some Cardiff fans want Warnock out. Happily they seem to be in the minority too.

Majority of our fans want to keep PW. He will work with what the club has and TS allows him to add. I feel the frustration should be pointed at TS not PW and personally I prefer his cool and calm approach to that bloated loud mouthed idiot who spent all the money then ****** off.

I've not seen Cardiff play all season but think they had a harder task than us regards quality of opposition they were up against. Not all his fault but Warney failed. Tony Stewart needs a Warnock type manager to open his wallet up. Said this before you need to say to TS we need improvements to the team not could do with them.

With the greatest respect gwru you've got no effing idea what Warne says or doesn't say to the chairman, nor how he deals with his players behind closed doors. All the green tea, pick your mates, wouldn't say boo to a goose stuff is lazy supposition not actually borne out by the facts. We have players at the club who haven't always been angels. Just because Warne conducts himself professionally (unlike the bloke New Yorkshire is talking about) doesn't mean he doesn't care or have fire in his belly. Talking bullshine and abusing people is cheap and easy. So is running away from trouble.

You don't go on what you see though gwru. You've assumed that Warne just rolls over for the Chairman. You don't know that. I don't know otherwise but I'm not the one making assumptions. Its easy to spend money but if it is true that he declined to spend money on players who were not going to improve us or didn't want to be here I respect him for that. Whatever money he might have had available would not have gone very far in todays market. As we have seen too often, even if you are prepared to break your pay structure to get players in it can be a gamble that can backfire horribly. You go on about Warne picking mates but many of those you have given that label to have been left out many times or for long periods and almost every manager in the league builds a backroom staff full of people they know and trust and they tend to move and work as management teams, Warnock/Blackwell and Evans/Raynor being classic examples. When it has been right Warne has sent people out on loan (never easy) and when it has been right he has brought them back (also not easy). Not soft options. It was well publicised that Palmer left Burton after a fall out with their manager. I know that Mattock made a regrettable personal mistake early in his career/life which suggests that you don't necessarily need a personal reference from a priest to play for us. When you take against someone its easy to go with lazy labels. By all means people are free to be critical of Warne but personally I would take those criticisms more seriously if people would also give credit when it is due and if they would be constructive about it, but the lazy clichéd sweeping statements wore a bit thin a long time ago.

Some brilliant posts from Smiler. Absolutely spot on with everything he says. He is realistic, and i just wish others on here accepted how difficult it is for our club to compete in the championship. We will have other cracks at the championship but please give credit to people like Paul Warne who lives and breathes this club and does everything and more to make us competitive in a division that is just beyond us. We need a massive cash injection to get our academy up to the next tier, to get players who have that little bit extra in both boxes. We have had a season beyond my expectations and most pundits, surely its not too much for us fans to appreciate that.

The same could be said if we were to find ourselves in League 2 after being relegated from League 1 at the end of next season. No investment in new quality players? We will get found out and it will ultimately lead to our decline.
As I posted on another thread, if want to become a millionaire invest in a football club when you are a multi-millionaire. It's  looks like a thankless and unforgiving business from where I am standing.

I'm not a wordsmith. smiler can write all these long messages like me saying the same things. Facts are January to give us the best chance of staying up we needed the right quality players in. I agree no point bringing players in no better than we had. We only had 3 loan players in surely we could have got 2 loans in good enough. Evans would have done. Fact Warney tried to loan Forde out end of the summer transfer window. Then he's back more in than out of the side for almost last 6 months of the season not doing what he brought to the club for being a winger. Newell nowhere near consistent enough. Know Williams was injured but hardly playing the only winger good enough we have at the club. Side Warney put out against Birmingham was committing suiside. It's like Warney knew it didn't matter what he did he'd still be the manager the next season. As I've said an unhealthy situation if there's no incentive to keep us up. A Tony Stewart of a few years ago Warney would have been gone. Evans won two games before he was released of his duties. Facts. smiler you can write all these long messages I'll only reply. You'll never beat me. I've proved with tips I go on what I see. Very rarely I'm wrong.

I totally recognise how hard it was for us to compete but Tony hardly gave us a chance with the budget

No point crying over spilt milk. We are L1 RUFC now and need to look forward. PW is a proven promotion winner in L1, fact. His stats are 1 for 1 so I'm going for him with his 100% L1 promotion record with L1 teams. There's also nothing wrong with a decent person being in charge, and Warne is much closer to the style of Warnock than SE - Warnock forms a real bond with his players and so does Warne. We have a squad that lost by the odd goal to some amazing teams this season and we can easily compete in L1 without big changes. After almost 50 years of watching this club there has never been a better time to be a fan, great ground and rollercoaster ride on the pitch - Wembley is our second home now.

As i have said before i like gwru's posts because he has strong views. I didn't think it was about beating people. I thought it was about putting views over for people to consider.
I have also said in the past that gwru sometimes doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good story. In his last post he states Forde has been more in than out and Williams was hardly playing. The appearances this season does not back up what he is saying. Its more he believes what has gone off.
Forde 20 starts and 11 as sub
Williams 31 starts and 13 as sub.
Thats probably why i like Smilers considered approach to gwru's shooting from the hip approach. However, the site would not be any good if either of these two didn't post. Lets hope there is more of the same in 2019/20 season. Two top posters btw.
