We were coasting up to half time. Maybe it's not what was said at half time but what was served up during the break. Green tea does taste bl00dy awful.
Thought we deserved a point. We kept going the 2nd H it weren't as if we weren't in the game. Taylor will wonder how his shot in the 2nd H didn't go in. Still in touch
Did ok in the 1st half 2nd half they went up a couple of gears how can we compete with teams on the budget they have they could easily win the play offs.
Not knocking any of the team they did ride there luck by that's what happens we you are at the bottom another day one of those chances would have gone in.
Don't rate Grealish trying to get players sent off makes his own problems as we saw a few weeks ago.
..I’m sure the message at half time was keep doing the same… but we never got the chance as the PEN totally changed the game. Our Heads went down, they started playing like they can… and the Ref did a first half/second half Jekyll and Hyde trick..
I have no complaints about the players. I’ve not complained about Warne much at all, I think he’s done fantastic with the players he has.
BUT… I blame the second half and this result on him. As SOON as they equalised he should have made changes. He should have seen what we saw… They put an extra striker on, we did nothing for too long, and then, I’ve nothing against Wiles, but for me that was a stupid like-for-like substitution when we needed to throw the game back at them.
For me, immediately they scored their Pen, he should have been brave as we had 11 against their 10, and say ‘right, deal with this’ and put all three subs on – Crookes because he would have been positive and aggressive, Vassell (far too late when he came on) and Williams or Forde – and take it to them.
Vassell sorry doesn't look up to this level. Towell thought was no worse than any of our players. Crooks & Forde aren't the anewer. Williams can't understand why he isn't starting. Was there, just watched Quest highlights. Their 2nd pen? Ajayi had his back to the play when adjudged to have handled the ball. Newell also unlucky with his 2nd H shot
I thought there 2nd penalty it was hard and the defender couldn't do anything about it poor decision from the ref it changed the game as I have said in an earlier post when you are in a position we are in things go against you but we might get a result on Saturday even if we go down still renewing my season ticket UTM.

Warne was at fault for.last night
Villa were able to play 4 3 2 because Smith knew Warne wouldn't change his tactic of Smith up front on his own
Why eff didn't he put Taylor up front with Smith and bring.williams on for towell
Clueless totally clueless
I didn't see the match, but like night follows day we lose and the blame game starts. It feels like an opportunity missed, but it sounded to me like a game with some twists and turns that just didn't go our way. Villa had players on their bench that we couldn't dream of signing. Realistically we have to accept that against these teams we will do our best but still lose. We do win every now and again though, so here's hoping for a surprise win at Stoke. Onwards and upwards.
What an entertaining and hard working display from the Millers. Considering Villa have players on the bench (Lansbury etc.), who are probably being paid the equivalent of our total weekly wage bill, I thought we gave them a hell of a game.
The first half was magnificent, its a pity half time came as the Millers were looking the better side. After half time, I do not think its what was in 'our tea', it was what was in 'theirs'! A totally different Villa came out in the second half and showed why they are where they are in the league. They pressed Rotherham right from the off and seemed to have upped their game by 50%, unfortunately we could not weather the early storm and they scored twice in the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately, Grealish suddenly woke up and went from a Pantomime villain to a Premier league bound star.
I still believe we could have got at least a point from the game and it is hard to criticise any of the players after the effort that was put in as the pace of the game was electric, which is possibly why the subs made no impact and could not get up to game speed quick enough? Ben struggled in the middle of the park being dispossessed virtually every time he had the ball but, he was against a fired up Grealish and the very impressive McGinn (who I thought was the best player on the Park last night), and I don't think Kyle Vassell actually touched the ball?
All in all, with a bit more luck, possibly a point or three were dropped against a very strong Villa side and now onto Stoke, not a bad league this!!!!!

Warney can't knock him. As smiler says Villa's bench we can only dream about. Agree with Hillsboroughmiller time to play Williams on the right & move Taylor in the hole behind Smith. One positive Newell is lasting 90 mins out. Basically that side we put out last night add Williams & Jones are the players that's going to be good enough to give us a chance of staying up this season. Wiles is work in progress.
As you all know I am not warnes biggest fan, for me he lacks self awareness and cannot see his limitations, as stated on another post he bottled it .....again. his tactics or lack of them has cost us at least 12 points at home this season, he was the same in league 1 and unless TS spends big or Scott pulls up miracles I think we will under achieve in league 1, he needs help from an experienced coach not his mates as YES men. I do like his team and good group mentality, and yes he has got a lot out of this squad. He comes across as a weak man, who expects to fail so accepts failure. Dean Smith is an excellent manager and he has done it at lower league level and he deserves his chance in the big time. Gwru - my guess on williams is he isnt playing because he is leaving in the summer he has believed his own hype and Warne is starting to turn his back on him, that is a guess.
Still want to state 1st half was brilliant and all the penalties were good decisions you cannot bloke a ball with your arms up ajayi knows this very poor from the lad.
On a positive note I thought vyner did well yesterday
Some really good posts on last nights game. I think Archie gets it about spot on. We had a very good first half with little to choose between the two teams. They miss a penalty we score one and they get a man sent off. This is where the game turned on us. Villa went from 4.1.4.1. to 3.4.2 . Mings off replaced by Jedinak who i thought had Smith in his pocket. Then at half time they take Adomah off and replace him with Kodjia who played at the side of Abrahams. This meant they set off the second half on the front foot and take the game to us. Grealish and man of match McGinn find space in the middle, we continue with long ball up to Smith who was finding it tough. They dictate the play and get the lead and after that they play a bit deeper to protect the lead. We huff and puff but with no quality on the ball in the midfield they ran out fairly comfortable winners. We had a few long throws, free kicks and crosses but they dealt with them comfortably.
Ben Wiles replaced Towell but as said struggled with the pace of the game. Towell ran about but again can't remember him having a telling contribution. Vassell looked way off it and hopefully it was due to lack of game time and not he's just not this standard. Time will tell. Taylor had a shot blocked in the second half and looked a threat in the first but faded. My main worry is the lack of ability to hold the ball in the middle of the park. Ajayi is a makeshift in there and gives us bite but his distribution is poor and his decision making not much better. We have to stick with him and the game plan we have because we have nobody any better. I think Derbymiller is a bit harsh when he says lack of tactics has cost us twelve points. Its the lack of options and quality that has cost us. Please tell me what he could do to change tactics. Play two strikers and let five and six in. It was Villa who changed the tactics and got the reward. Why? Because they had the fire power to do it.
I have had another look at there 2nd penalty looked a very harsh decision it was ball to the top of his shoulder he had his back to it no way a penalty if we had held out for another 5 minutes who knows just feel the writing is on the wall when things like that go against you over the whole game we deserved a draw. Anyway onto Stoke hopefully we can send there manager to the Job Centre we have been a managers graveyard over the years.
It was actually El Ghazi who they took off at half time and Adomah who was sacrificed to play Jedinak but the point i was trying to make was they had the players to alter the game. It might have been a bit harsh that second penalty TH but they had started with attacking intent and Rodak had already made a save and Mattock had a made a rushed clearance. Not sure we deserved a draw but we go to Stoke still in the mix.
Dodgy 2nd H pen to them. Newell & Taylor going close to equalising. We could easily have got & it would have been deserved a point from the game. As Whiston01 states we can't go 4-4-2 especially in away games. Go with the same side at Stoke that started last night apart from Williams for Taylor. Taylor is not a winger. I don't believe Warney is not playing Williams because he's leaving in the summer. If we go down Ajayi & Vaulks at least won't be here next season.
He won't start Williams often because Williams only knows one direction. He isn't cautious enough for PW. He'd sooner have him rebranded as a holding midfielder than let him loose
And I have to say again. 1 nil up against 10 men regardless of the gap within one division should not see us totally outplayed second half. I'm saying again. Tactics. You've all seen tactics change games. Warne didn't change. No tactics
