Workman like performance today I thought Jones was the outstanding player for us showed why he has played at a higher level pity he got injured pleased for IKI goal another steady game done well since he has come back into the team Richard Wood another good game my favourite player in this team I know some of you on here are not keen of him think he is a bit past it 2 seasons ago when we were really struggling he was one of the few players putting a shift in easy match next the Villa.

Jones did his job. Wood wouldn't be in the side against Villa for me. Forest weren't much threat today. Expect Villa to be. Good to see Robertson looking fit. Hope Mattock's injury isn't too bad. We've got to play Wiles for Towell whose not doing it. Rodak top save at 1-1. 4 sides now in the fight to avoid the last relegation place. Can only be better for us.

That was a typical Millers performance. We worked tremendously hard, and played some decent football in patches. Many times we have played like we did today and it hasn't quite been good enough because we run up against opponents who are that bit better than us. Today I thought Forest played into our hands a bit by being quite direct themselves, but that doesn't detract from what we did and we thoroughly deserved the win. Considering that we played almost half a game with a back line comprising four centre halves and no genuine full backs, we did well to restrict Forest to very few chances. Ihiekwe has been excellent since coming back to us and he was outstanding today including as a stand-in right back when pressed in to service there. A great afternoon, and very entertaining to watch their centre back having a paddy in added on time which was the icing on the cake.

Amusing to see him lose it smiler. Take away the fact that Forest should have been a goal up before we scored & Grabban missed an absolute sitter we thoroughly deserved the win. More of the same on Wednesday please.

Forrest spent 30 million on players in the summer what on agree we played well made them look ordinary only player who looked decent was our old player Grabbon wish we had a natural goal scorer in our team getting on a bit but he knows where the net is.

Super result and the much maligned and certainly unappreciated wood did his job again.

Great to get the donkey off our back V NF.

Little old RUFC beat the huge NF. It's hardly imaginable. 51 year old overweight men should never think they are done with. 😉

Wood is only 33, Ian.  He struggles a bit against quick, mobile forwards, but he is certainly not done with!

Personally I was  pleased for our much maligned and underappreciated manager.  The pedigree O'Neill/Keane scalp is a big one to take to add to Lampard, McLaren and others.  Last week if it could go wrong it did, and we got a hammering which would have hurt.  Yesterday must have felt very good.  A week is a long time in football, as they say.

We are down to the last six games now.  The bottom two teams are gone and we are one of four teams (possibly five - QPR fans are convinced they won't get another point) who might fill the last relegation spot at the season's end.  Our run in is tough, but no worse than that faced by Reading and Wigan (Wigan's looks horrendous).  I quite like our chances.

I hope the victory over Forest dulled your pain TH. A great win for us against a very ordinary Forest side.
I didn't feel we played great but worked hard as we have done all season. We are crying our for a midfield player who can put his foot on it and dictate play. Thought Ajayi was poor today, lacked tactical awareness and some of his distribution was very poor. Newell had flashes and gives us that bit of balance on the left, but he is easily got past and a better team would have capitalised on it. Towell looks weak to me and i would put Wiles back in against Villa.
The positives were Smith who took his chance well with a good first touch and was a constant thorn in the Forests defence. Vaulks as usual put a shift in and he makes a lot of difference when he is in the team. Ihiekwe has been a revealation since his return and along with Jones and Wood had solid games. Felt Wood was at fault slightly with their goal when the ball went off him into the path of the Forest player. He gives us a solid base even though he lacks a yard of pace.
These are the performances that make you proud to be a miller. Still six games to play and the lads are giving everything for a management team they will go through brick walls for. Didn't see a lot of that from the money players of Forest UTM.

Wood: somebody at HT said Wood was at fault with their goal. I didn't see it at the time, just watched the highlights it was Wood's ball but he misjudged it to leave Grabben clear. Wood you can't fault his effort but that's two home games were he was partly to blame for goals against. Given ourself a chance of getting out of this. Need our 1st choice defence to start with that's Jones or Vyner Ihiekwe Robertson Mattock. Wood or Taylor can't take 3 games in 8 days. Wiles he's got to come in for Towell. Williams for Taylor. Hope Mattock's fit for Wednesday.

Put wood in hole you know it makes sense team captain leader on and off the pitch when we go into battle need players like him can see it being a right battle on Wednesday I am not concerned who we play if we put in our 110% effort as we have seen this season we have a chance against anyone just got to play a bit higher up the pitch we are not very good when we play just in front of our penalty area we leave to much room for these teams to have a run at us.
Seen a lot of these players this season they must have brilliant agents that's where I have gone wrong.

This must be a 1'st! I totally agree with you with your side for the Villa game. Got a feeling Vyner will be in for Jones but don't mind that. Only thing is you've got 12 starting. Taylor on the bench for me.

I agree with that team too because as gwru has previously said Taylor and Wood struggle playing games close to each other. Not sure sickness/illness will allow it though.
Has TH Miller got a twin or has he a serious split personality problem? A very good and positive post above ! A bit different from the crap goalkeeper, crap manager,we are going down, wheels falling off the cart,if we get a point out of next 3 games you can hit me with a wet lettuce. Looking forward to Div 1 next season. After last weeks result against Derby he should be sacked on Monday and take the rest with him. Couldn't run a chip shop and we will be relegated by Easter We will get a pasting today. It might be your passion for the club that you resort to statements like those above. If it is fair enough.
Now i don't want you to resort back to it but when we get beat on Wednesday(i predicted a win Against Forest) it still won't be the end of our season and Warney doesn't become a bad manager again. We will battle and give them a good game but this is a team with a bit more class and on a hot run. With a big following behind them and us with a patched up team i think it might prove too much. However, our team are battlers and you never know. One thing is certain i will be at Stoke getting behind a team that makes me proud to be a miller.

I think some of you have very short memories you were all cheering when woody scored those goals to get us promotion ì thought on Saturday he put in a very good performance he has not been made club captain for nothing. Ì just like to see players that play with attitude and he has it got it we all have out favourites and our reasons for liking them my reason is ATTITUDE ATTITUDE ATTITUDE.

No arguments with that TH. He is one of the many who would go through a brick wall for Warney. Very rarely lets us down, strong in the air, great leadership and scores vital goals. I still think i would rest him against Villa to give him time to play away at Stoke on Saturday. He will play a big part in our survival and might if injuries/sickness don't ease have to play games in quick succession. He will give is all whenever he plays.

Can't fault Wood for his attitude, he gives his all no doubt. But simple fact is if we are going to stay up this season we need our 1st choice centre backs playing that's Ihiekwe & Robertson. There's no sentiment in picking your best side, got to be done. I wouldn't bring him back either for the Stoke game if we have available our 1st choice centre backs.

Sounds like Jones won't be considered against Villa. Hope Vyner is available. Mattock should be fit so no reason why we can't move Robertson to centre back.

It is tough to blame Wood for the Forest goal. All the back five played some part in it. Yes, Wood tried to nick in front of Grabban and didn't get there cleanly but other things happened after that. Ihiekwe and Jones then both went for the second ball when really one of them should have attacked it and one should have covered. Mattock's positioning was horrible. As a full back you can't be out in a wide area ten yards behind the centre backs. He should have been on the cover much better than that and he wasn't able then to catch up despite making a good effort to do so. And you could argue that Rodak might have been a bit stronger with the save, although he did make the initial save.

I am sure they will review it as a collective and try to not let it happen again. It was a bit of a soft goal to concede. These teams will create chances and score good goals, so the last thing we need to do is give soft ones away.

On the whole though I thought we defended well against Forest particularly in the second half given the changes we had to make during the game across the back four.

I am a fan of Clark Robertson, who by the way deputised for Mattock more than competently at full back. My worry with Wood is that he is a bit vulnerable to pace and quick movement, and Villa have plenty of forwards who tick those boxes. I think maybe Robertson is better equipped to cope with them.

All things being equal if I had to pick one or other of them to play left centre back it would be Robertson over Wood for me, but only marginally and I don't think anyone could really argue if Wood kept his place for now.

Hope Saturday's win is a confidence booster for the rest of the season don't worry about who we are playing let them worry about us against Villa just go for it should be a good night looking forward to it. I can remember going to Villa park we won 1-0 in the cup that score would do for me.
