Worksop Town have been struggling for a number of years and are currently languishing in the Toolstation North East Counties league (same league as Maltby Main). Today they beat second placed Peni5tone Church to go nine points clear at the top. Nothing too remarkable about that because to be right Worksop is traditionally a club that should be at least two leagues higher than that. What was remarkable though was the crowd, which was 1628. That's eight times the next biggest in that league and bigger than some in the National League, which is four levels higher. Come On You Tigers.

Went to the recent game at Muglet Lane(well 20 minutes in cos of the pigs game) & tigers fans made up the majority of the crowd. When I was young Worksop was one of the top non-league clubs in the country, hopefully on their way back.
You're right Brad, Worksop is a sleeping giant in non-league terms. They are one of the oldest football clubs in the country and have spent most of their life round and about the second tier of non-league football. I used to watch them regularly against the likes of Burton if they were at home and RUFC weren't. They have been mismanaged as a club over the last fifteen years or so and now pay rent to play at what used to be their own ground after years in exile at places like Retford and Hucknall. I am sure they have the fan base in a town that size to pull in 1500 every week if they could get back up the pyramid. Good to see Maltby having a decent season too.
