agreed... someone who has proven over the years they are a goalscorer... doesn't lose their ability, they just get unfit with age

I'm sure Alan Shearer, Ian Wright etc etc would put the ball in the back of the net, even at their age, given half the chances we've missed this season.

We failed miserably in the Jan window - so like you say - if there is someone who's a proven striker - just f**cking sign him.

He'll only be here until May, we don't need a team player, we don't need someone to run around, we need someone who can hit the target....

Could it be connected to Bolton Wanderers? They were due to sign a player and the deadline day bid fell through.

The player with a past deal looks like it's dead but the German deal might still be on. There seems to be a bit of a death wish at the club I think the manager is out of his depth.i know a lot of you are not fans of the slightly rotund guy Mr Evans 2nd best manager we have had at this club check his record in my time of watching if he was here those 2 players would have been playing against Wigan. Getting more and more despondent.

Warne is a liability, his goody goody approach stinks, he will be gone by the end of the year we will be lower half of league one and have a squad of church attending crocks

Quite right!  Get Dexter Blackstock back!  Our morale and team work ethic need a lift!

Warne clearly values a good work ethic and team spirit.  They are what we rely on in our battle to survive.  I can't see why that is a problem for anyone.

We have people in the squad given contracts by Warne who have less than perfect backgrounds and indeed in at least one case a fairly serious criminal conviction.  Which demonstrates that provided Warne believes that a player is likely to add something and be committed to the cause, there can be room for them.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good rant.

Aye Aye here we go. Warnes a liability, gone by the end of the season and lower half of league one next season. Well it was Warne who got us up via the play offs. Its Warne who has kept us out of the bottom three nearly all season and yes he is a very decent human being who is a credit to our club. He has a team of league one players who has made us tough to beat and competitive. He is managing a club who cannot compete with other clubs financially in the league and as soon as we appreciate that the better. I cannot imagine many managers cutting it in this league with the financial clout we have at our disposal. Warnock and Jackett didn't fancy it. I think we are favourites to finish third bottom and probably will. That does not make Warne a bad manager. He has set up a team spirit and a work ethic that has kept us in the hunt, and if that means continuing with decent human beings he gets my backing. One bad apple makes the whole barrel sour.

Dead right Whiston01.

That excellent human being Steve Evans ****ed off when it got a bit tough for him and the money ran out. Warnock did a great job for us but at a huge cost and then left when he got a better offer. Big name Stubbs hugely damaged the link between supporters and the club and was a disaster. Jackett ran a mile.

Warne has shown loyalty, courage, restored some pride to a club in crisis, got us promoted and is exceeding all expectations (ours and everyone elses - have a look at what the bookies relegation odds were in August) on a relative shoestring. And he has done it all in a fairly short space of time

You can have a discussion about tactics and formations, and about how we can best fund or approach a campaign to stay up. Nobody is above constructive criticism. But the personal attacks on Warne that are starting to come out of the woodwork are mind boggling and a bit shameful.

As far as I can gather from talking to supporters of other clubs, most neutrals appreciate the job that Warne is doing. Apparently a minority (at least I hope its a minority) of our own supporters are the only ones who don't.

Smiler don't think Evans ****ed off. Chairman or his son's decision.

I'm not condemning Warney. See which league we are in next season. Even the worst case scenario I'll be getting my season ticket as soon as they come out for next season. If we can keep our main nucleus of our side injury free feel we are as good or better than the other sides in the relegation battle. But got to find a way of playing 2 up front.

I thought Evans and Stewart had a disagreement about the future direction the club should take ie Evans wanted more money to spend on players (after publicly saying he needed half a dozen further additions) and Tony wouldn't give him any. If I'm wrong I am sorry to all concerned. Evans has, however, been known to leave one club for another where there was more to spend at that other. In any case none of that detracts from the job Paul Warne has done.

smiler I might be wrong. Know what I was told but not going to repeat that. It's like anything to do with the club it's only a fact when it's made official. We are going back 3 1/2 yrs. We didn't start that season off well but sure we won 2 games prior to Evans leaving.

I never said by the end of the season i said by the end of the year. Why oh why when warne is criticised does smiler always bring up dexter blackstock he is not the only player we have bought. I do not like warne his style of management and he does not have the tactical ability. You lot stick up for him if you want, but his boring brand of football is not for me.

I brought Blackstock up because there is a criticism of Warne for his apparent reluctance to bring in a free agent striker with a chequered past and have a punt on him. The parallels with Blackstock are very obvious. We don't know what sort of money this player might be after, but bringing in players like that is not risk free if they are on good money. We also don't know if the player concerned is actually any good, but hey ho.

If RM is the player in question with the reported past, then it's a 'no' from me for a future with the Millers.
