Despite the array of talent that the City fans have on display at every home game, I couldn't help but think that there was an air of resignation, verging on boredom, around the Etihad. When Sterling scored the first goal yesterday, the reaction from the home fans was - ah well, in goes another! If Rotherham would have managed a goal, I suspect the roof of the stand we were in would have been dislodged.
For all the sparkle and wealth that surrounds Man City, I would take a game at the NYS any day, where every goal is really appreciated because it takes so much effort to get one. If you look at it from a City supporter's perspective, you attend a home game and you expect to win comfortably. Anything less is a disappointment. With the Millers, every game is a challenge and there's even some satisfaction to be had by losing bravely. If we achieve a point it's cause for celebration and if we win, it's a major achievement.
Give me Rotherham in the Championship rather than a glitzy Premier League side. Honest football, genuine supporters and great fun - unless you take it too seriously!!

Same, give me the NYS anytime. Man C to be honest with you hope they win the prem' title. Can't be doing with Liverpool fans & a German manager. Man U: Pogba get's a manager sacked, he's happy now cause new manager let's him do what he wants. Rest of the prem' is spot the Englishman.
The PL is not Englsih football. You have to ask yourself what English means? - for me it means English home grown players and kids coming through a pathway to play for their local team. English to me does not mean an English town or City club, as it's heritage and tradtion have been ripped away - old iconic grounds destroyed, the identity totally purposefully eroded in the name of taking more and more money from Sky.
The PL pinched the materials of english football pretty much the same as MK took Wimbledon, and used it for its own gain and agenda. I think every single PL supporter is a fool
I think it's about supporting your local team the thing I like about watching the millers is I leave my house walk into the NYS within 25 minutes.Even better with the ground we have know.
Football would be boring if we all followed the money can't understand people who watch PL oñ the tv get out and support your local team. On tv sooner watch Doncaster/Barnsley than Mc/MU.
Just heard on radio we should be signing 2 players this week Warney said he will be well pleased if we get them.
If we could sign 2 players before the Ipswich game would be a midfielder we only have Vaulks & Wiles with Towell suspended & a striker who can play on the left.
I got bored to tears watching Pep's Barcelona team and feel the same about Man City. I can appreciate the technical brilliance, but that doesn't make it exciting. In the same way that I can appreciate the skills of the great artists but I get bored looking at paintings for long. If I had to watch a PL team every week it would be Liverpool. They are exhilarating at times. Having said that I agree with the general points made about the PL. Its only connection to English football is that we host what has become a worldwide competition. I wouldn't want City's owners either thank you as a matter of principle. Give me a Tony Stewart and an honest, hard working albeit limited smaller club any day of the week. The knocks and the uphill battles make the wins and occasional successes all the sweeter.
Rotherham United are the only team I like to watch consistently. Secondly, as a neutral, I prefer watching football in the park than the premiership. That's the truth of it. Same reason I never fancied a catwalk model. Fake! Who wants to go through life untouched by what's in the heart. Might as well be a piece of stale rich tea biscuit nest to a soggy tea bag.
It was great to see 'how the other half lives'. The ground was fabulous, the City players on view (apparently £380 million pounds worth on Sunday!) were amazing. My one hope going into Sundays game was that they would underestimate us and just go through the motions..........I was wrong!!
You did get the feeling that you were part of the corporate juggernaut that is Manchester City, the commercialism all around the ground, the vastness of the stadium, players and a manager you’ve only ever seen on TV. It was good to sample it for a day, but, I think I would miss the intensity of the NYS and the feeling that you are actually part of the club, if that makes sense?
But, a class club and (apart from the result) a great day out.
Last Sunday we played against a team and a ground built with someone's disposable income? Someone's pocket money? Manchester City are living the dream. That's all it is. A dream. It was a nightmare for us but for MC it's good while it lasts. Sour grapes. No. I'm just being real.
PS Where is the money tree which funds the MC dream or is that just another one of my rhetorical questions?
Because I wanted to see the game with my Manchester City supporting friends, I watched the game from one of the lower blocks opposite the players entrance. The view was hopeless because of the shallow terracing and the raised pitch, there was very little legroom and the drizzle came in. It confirmed my view that we've got the country's best ground by far.
We took on a team comprising mostly not just internationals, but some of the the finest internationals in the world (and Raheem Sterling). They all played at the top of their game, yet the scoreline was similar to several Premiership scores at the Etihad this season. Everyone around me agreed that the Millers fans were magnificent and they were surprised that the Citizens chose to chant abuse against the Millers, Man U and even themselves - the ones who remained seated were told to get themselves standing or face reprisals. What sort of moron chooses to do that when they have the world's finest footballers playing in front of them and in their colours. And, incidentally, this will have been the first game when they've been outshouted - our 6,000 heroes were over twice the largest away support so far this season at Etihad.
