Not going but those who are might not agree but don't risk any of our key players. Rodak Ajayi Robertson Mattock Vaulks Smith wouldn't play any of them. Injury or suspension needs avoiding.

Yes I agree GWRU

BUT... if you were a player whould you want to miss playing in this game ?

No-Way is the answer, so I think we play our regular team.. but tell them not to get injured (i.e. no daft challenges) and enjoy the game regardless of the result.

I think it will be City that rest the vast majority of their first team... which will be a shame for us 6000 going.

Looking fwd to being there... :)

I think Warne has to give them all a game. It is still a massive personal achievement to play against a few top quality players. Won't likely come again for them. I also tend to think its best to play your best team in a game like this. Some may think its an opportunity for a rest and to avoid injury, but I don't think Id impose that on my players. They could get injured resting. Who knows? sometimes it is better to keep the engine ticking.

I also agree that makes perfect sense gwru but it still leaves me with a sense of unease. This year in respective cup competitions we’ve drawn a couple of cracking ties. In the League Cup the chance to watch us play at Goodison Park under floodlights was something to relish. Then came the the disappointment. PW said he would use the game to give a few players who hadn’t yet played a run out. So we were intentionally playing a weaker side. So with that in mind, and maybe with Everton playing their reserves I wavered whether to go. With the match already rendered pointless my only reason for going would have been to experience the grand old stadium by night. Then with us not even playing in red and white and trusting some scally to “mind me car” in the end I gave it a miss. I know, on the night our scratch team played really well and the Everton public gave the competition the respect it deserved and turned out in numbers to produce a good atmosphere.

Having already dismissed one competition it does leave me with a sense of unease if we similarly dismiss what is to me football’s greatest club competition. How l despised Manchester United the year they didn’t take part. I can see the sense of not risking our core players in a meaningless match but what have we also become?

I guess things have changed. In the past we used to have a chance of beating England’s best (Leeds United in the 70’s comes to mind). In comparison Manchester City are seriously on a different planet to us. I will be going (and sitting quietly in the home end). My heart says we should always play our strongest side. My head understands the alternative. On the day I hope City play as many of their stars as possible. Somehow I don’t think they will.

Just had team news on the OS. Billy Jones can play. Got to put something like a side out just wouldn't risk Robertson who is prone to injuries. Would be tempted to play Hinds or Jones in place of Mattock, keep the latter fresh for the Ipswich game. Vyner Warney says he's fit.

It might be wishful thinking I am going for a win on Sunday you know they will probably put there third team out not played much football if you don't put your best team out do you deserve to win. Love to see it when Mr Gardinia hope you like my spelling looses his scarf his coat and his trouser when we beat them. Just goes to prove if you have the right ticket prices people come not like Wembly good show over 6,000 Going.

50-1 is a bit insulting to us and might not be so ridiculous if they play their reserves (they've a lge cup semifinal next Wednesday).

Man City will of course play a mixed team, probably all of the bench from the Liverpool will start, De Bruyne, Marhez, Walker etc ! eg their reserves 😉 so that’s six supplemented with their young England youths, and two or three who started Tuesday, there is absolutely no way they will field a second or third team out. They have about twenty internationals and which ever players start they will all be worth more than our team- put together !

Rotherham meanwhile have the opportunity to make one or two experimental choices ! Viner at centre back, Jones right back, Hinds left back, Ajaji in midfield for instance, maybe Leithwaite on the bench as well ?

It's a game we could have done without. We are taking a good following so Warney has got to play players he'd rather not. Have we got a right back fit? Can't imagine Raggett & Wood as centre backs against a side like MC. We are a midfield player short. Could be painful to watch.

What's up with the BBC not putting the match on just paid £150.50 to keep a load of upper middle class hangers on in there over paid jobs more chance me winning the lottery than them putting Rotherham on. Can I get my money back.

I hope everyone has a good experience today, and that the supporters and players do the club proud. The chance to play at a stadium like that in front of a big crowd must be something that they will relish. We are about 15/1 to win it which to be honest looks like tight odds but you never know....

Gone back to the 1st choice defence. Hope it's the last time we see Forde & Taylor starting & playing Williams in midfield. City doesn't look much like a reserve side they have out to me. As long as we don't get any injuries to key players not really interested in this game.

Man City were clinical, classy and cut through our defence with ease. Their team is full of some of the most highly trained and disciplined athletes. We are light years away from the Premier League.

We need buckets full of investment just to compete with their second string players. They have been fortunate enough to have high rollers on their side.
We can now concentrate on the League.
Come on you Reds!

I enjoyed the day.

result was what I expected even though I hoped for better

If anything comes out of it - it ought to be that it highlighted even more that we need a striker (or 2) to support Smith and give us an outlet other than lump it up front... as when we did try and go forward - we had zero options...

Wiles looks good based on the games I've seen him play so far, our best player I thought... Rodak played well (Despite the score) and Vaulks is getting better (either good for him as a Miller or as an increase on his transfer fee)

City 9 Burton 0. At least we didn't have to play them over two legs. Will they bother with the second leg at all? Seriously, not good for City or Burton or the game in general.

Watched the MC match last night as you said poor old Burton have to play them again glad we are not in that position. I hope the Rotherham players have seen that match and seen any teams with our financial budgets have got no chance against them. As for a football match it is no contest and seeing that it's killing cup competitions. The powers that be have got to introduce a new format that gives a good financial incentive to clubs like us. I would sooner play one of our local clubs a good pay day get the ticket price right and get the game over in one match. As for VAR not to impressed have got to speed the decision making up how can we afford it all we will have is 2 mobile phones at each end of the ground.
