Not seen or heard the game but surely that has to go down to the Ref ???

Although - no goal again... so for me, priority is still a goal scoring striker to play alongside Smith.

I doubt we'll find one.. but someone like ALF or Robins is needed to poach goals and feed off Smith...

A Christmas to forget... roll-on New Years Day...

Its not Warne's fault Ian. Nobody could be doing more. Hats with rabbits in are in short supply. I'm not there but it sounds like we were having at least our share of the game and didn't take our chances. He's then been let down by two experienced professionals (though it sounds like Jones may have been unfortunate). Its as frustrating as hell, but unless Warne is given more quality to work with what can he do? This is frustration talking and I might think differently in a while, but for now I'm thinking that whatever we are paying Towell might be better spent on someone else. By all accounts Wiles did fine today. Give him a run in the team now. Spend some money on a decent right back who is likely to be fit more often than not, and shuffle the pack further up the pitch. Towell, Taylor, Forde, Proctor, Manning, Williams and Newell are all players who aren't really doing the business. If we can get better in then we must even if it means some of the above named moving on. If we can't get better in then we battle on but it is looking increasingly like an uphill battle.

As we saw two seasons ago if you are going to be relegated events conspire to go against you personally after this very very poor xmas results it's between us and Ipswich who will finish bottom if these results ontinue get a new manager in and plan for next season. I hope the board can provide the finance to bring some quality in The situation we are in we need the players Now not the end of the month.

so whos fault is it?

if we stay up will that be down to warne?, yet if we go down it won't be down to warne?

are you in fact paul warne?

the manager is always accountable that is what the job is about. Now do I think he should have been given better support from the board, yes I do. However he has made a lot of awful  decisions in critical games and his poor decisions have cost us at least 8 points, add to that to let the players go on a **** up a few days before the seasons most critical game so far, is boarding on insanity.

My concern is will he learn from his mistakes, will he stop with the hippy style management and be nolder in the games at home.

The players heads will be down, they will know that we are likely to lose Vaulks in Jan, they are getting used to not winning they will struggle to remember what winning feels like, the belief will leave and confidence is crucial to stay up. We need our new players in early as every gane will count.

New years day is a must win game for so many reasons, confidence, to stop the rot, to get out of bottom 3, to keep close to the other 5 teams above us that are in the relegation fight.

Our horrendous away run needs sorting and fast, we are heaping far too much pressure on ourselves everytime we play at the NYS.

The team desperately needs another forward and a right back. Send Vyner back and get another in, seems silly we are playing a player on loan from a side that aren’t much better than ourselves.

Was it Halford who said Warney is managing Roth U with one hand tied behind his back. Looks that way cause the summer transfer window is coming back to haunt us now. Who in there right minds would have signed Jones 31 who didn't play at all the previous season & what's more give him a 2 year contract. Tony Stewart OBE is without doubt outside football a good business man. What's happened this season giving 2 year contracts to Jones & Wood + extending a player who hasn't proved he's come back from a serious injury in Proctor contract isn't good business.

See if we can turn it round in the January transfer window. Can we get Dom Ball back for the Preston game?

Just read report didn't look as we were at the races again poor recruitment in the summer haven't learned from our past mlstakes it just seems like grounding day. Now I will get my season ticket again next season just hoping we can do something in the transfer window I know it doesn't look good tonight but it's up to us loyal supporters to get behind the team lets be honest we have been here many times before.

The idea that if we look like going down it must be the managers fault doesn't stack up for me. At the end of the day we are a bottom three club by every measure whether its turnover, crowd size, capital support (funded debt), wage bill or whatever else. Probably 24th for all of them and a million miles behind the vast majority of our competitors. If Warne can keep us up he will have done wonders. If not it won't necessarily mean he has done a lot wrong. He will make and has made mistakes but he is a good young manager. He proved that last season and I think has done well so far this season against all the odds. We have had too many managers in recent years. I think our best chance is to stick with him and get behind him, not make a scapegoat of him because he isn't able to turn a group of League One footballers into a successful Championship side. I'm as frustrated as everyone else but for me that doesn't translate into blaming Warne any more than I'd blame a formula one driver with the worst car on the grid for coming near the back in a grand prix race.

Not been today but it sounds like we were just as good as them and had chances to go in front. Sounds familiar.
I certainly don't blame Warne, in fact i think he is doing a great job with whats at his disposal. Vyner will be our right back for the rest of the season i think, with Jones as cover. What worries me more than the right back is, what happens if Smith gets injured. We have no other fit striker at the club with Vassell a couple of weeks away and Proctor out with a groin problem. I cannot have David ball and Yates in a championship side so i would hope a striker is brought in after Preston game and before we play Brentford,Millwall and Ipswich. . Just hope he has somebody lined up.

The short answer might be that it isn't really anybody's fault, which is even more frustrating.

We're up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

PS. Towell also received a red card today.
Make that up the creek without two paddles.

PPS. Regarding the annual gong show. The British Empire is long gone. It's as dead as the parrot in the Monty Python sketch starring Michael Palin and John Cleese.

It's only a football game, we aren't going to war! Could do with getting a win against Preston. Vyner will be back, Towell wasn't playing well anyway, Manning can come in.

Agree these signings we are said to be making need them in for the Ipswich away game not waiting till the last minutes of the transfer window as we usually do.

I'm not blaming the manager but there the ones who take the can when things go wrong now if the chairman wants to stick with this manager as long as he is backing him I will just wish we had the finances to compete. On theVaulks situation he hasn't extended his contract I wouldn't be surprised if he went in January . As we know the rats start deserting the sinking ship a couple more might leave

The team has been going downhill and it continues to slide. I don't think its a case of blame but accountability. Chairman sometimes are clearly culpable in terms of allowing a club to run down or taking a club on for own gain. Sometimes its the manager who simply is not working well enough in this time and space. I do tend to agree and I think its undeniable that the summer's lack of business was very naive. That being said PW has worked wonders ( I think it could be said he tied his own arm behind his back) and I like him. However, I must admit I m having thoughts. Sometimes a change of management works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it pays to stick with a manager through thick and thin. But, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of sacking. The long-term future at the club is always what turns in our heads, and that can mean any decision is a possibility. Personally, Id stick with Warne as the evidence does not indicate we would be better without him. He certainly will be on a steep learning curve, and since the chairman gave him the job he has done well overall. He has also accomplished and continues to try to establish a real togetherness. That's the rub for all concerned including PW. He has done well, but now he is managing a crisis of results and moral despite his high values of commitment and support. We can only watch it unfold. I for one still believe in what he is trying to do, but can he produce?

Still, I liked some of the posts that continue to point out the small margins. I think that its true that we can improve results and its worth waiting for January (pop!) Happy new year, everyone!

PW is close to being the man, but, also, and alas, agonisingly on the edge of the sword of Damocles.
