Just been reading in tizer about goalkeeping situation if he were to go back to Fulham in the New Year what about a sneaky loan bid for Westwood from the owls he must be itching to play some football somewhere. Then again if we were to beat them in December a new manager could come in and that will change the situation. I'm sure we should have enough money to cover a loan until the end of the season. One or two on here might have a moan about him being from the owls but Wood and Mattock haven't exactly been disasters.
One of the best managers and centre half in my time were both ex owls Porterfield and Mullen. The previous club means nothing to me, once they become a Miller and put a shift in thats it for me.
The fact that he has to miss one game in half a season would be a daft reason not to sign a loan player. But I doubt we could afford to pay even half of Westwood's wages, and if he was available there would surely be clubs with deeper pockets than us interested. I do think loans within the same division are dodgy. Imagine for the sake of the argument that we did loan Westwood and that us and Wednesday were each paying half his wages and that with a few games of the season to go we were scrapping it out with Wednesday to avoid the last relegation place (not too far fetched). That would put him in a horrible position, wouldn't it?
Wednesday pushing for the playoffs - have you been drinking Glenn? They're a couple of bad results away from a meltdown over in S6. When I think about ex Wednesday players who we've had at the Millers I always think of one that nearly was - John Pearson. I remember he had a short but very good loan spell with us and I think we got very close to signing him permanently but couldn't get the deal done. Not much changes.
For some reason I'd forgotten that he played for us Worcester. Looking at his record he was a prolific striker throughout a long career getting a goal every two and a half games (approx) over a 630 game career. I'll add Tony Simmons to the list. One of the few good (and non-Grimsby related) signings made by George Kerr. Twenty seven goals in two seasons in what was a struggling side. Someone who never really fulfilled his potential.
