Again mixed emotions. Immensely proud of the effort and the performance but deflated to only get one point out of it. We dominated against a side that has started the season quite well. On the negative side, the penalty and the goal came from poor defending. To get caught on a counter attack with six minutes to go was very naive. We came close three times to going 2-0 up and I think that would have been game over. Smith was unplayable. For much of the game. The players are looking more comfortable in this league with every game that passes. Recent performances haven't got the results that they deserved, but that's how it goes sometimes. I see lots of positives even though I am frustrated that we came away with only one point.

Thought our worst home performance of the season. Worst than Hull. Disjointed that's how I saw it. Rodak Ajayi Vaulks Smith perhaps Williams pick of our players. Towell never in the game. Same with Vassell. Manning did nothing when he came on. Wood got caught out. There goal why send all our big defenders up leaving Mattock up against Donaldson with not long to go.

You'd better have a discussion with Derby about that GWRU. He thinks Warne is a coward for not going for a second goal. You think we were stupid to send players forward in search of one. It isn't easy being a manager is it?

You get near the end of the game you try to hold on to what you've got. I'd sooner have Vaulks take the free kick & put it in row z than leave no cover at the back leaving us open to a break away. Was dissapointing cause I thought Bolton didn't look threatening at all in the 2nd half but had some game changing sub's to bring on.

It's a funny old game. I thought it was a very watchable game and that we were excellent today but with a couple of defensive errors letting us down. Vaulks had his best game for the Millers and Smith was superb - he will score and he will become a million plus front man. It depends what you want at RUFC. If you remember the end of last season and the glum predictions about our survival chances in the Championship and the realistic expectations that it would be a real slog, you won't be disappointed at our performances so far. We've gone toe to toe with teams with far deeper pockets than ours and, apart from Brentford away, have not been anyone's pushovers. Like Smiler, I was disappointed today that we didn't get the 3 points that our performance deserved. However, things could be a lot worse - we could have been playing away at AFL Fylde in the FA Cup qualifying rounds!

Grateful for small mercies - onwards and upwards!

I continue to be impressed. We are just on the cusp of being several more places higher. Its always been a tight league and this season will be too. Somewhat unlucky not to keep the 3 points.

I cant blame the game management . on another day it would have been enough. I don't think there is anything too wrong with the management of the team or game and certainly not the resources. All told we are putting ourselves in with a very good chance of staying up.

Smith is still doing great and Vaulks continues to grow as a very good all-round footballer.

Home form is just about good enough at present.

Of course, I mean to judge from a realistic perspective. We are going to be in a battle all season.

Felt like two points lost to me. Bolton came without their two most influential players in Oztumer and Sammy Omeobi, but still managed to get a draw. A result their fans were happy with according to their website.
We were the better team but as befits a side that are the lowest scorers in the league failed to take our chances. Smith,Williams,Vassell and Taylor all had clear cut chances but failed to convert them or failed to pass to a colleague in a better position.
Donaldson was a thorn in our side all afternoon with wood having a tough time all match. it was no surprise that it was Donaldson who out muscled Mattock (should have cleared it earlier) who then released Doidge to score.
Quite a few positives. Smith is giving everything and their centre backs know they have had a game week in week out. Just wish he could score more. Williams has added consistency this season and looks good in this division. The midfield are not getting overrun as much and we are not giving the opposition as much possession as we did the last time in this division. There are also a few negatives. Vassell appears lost out on the left and i think he needs to play closer to Smith in home games. Newell is having little influence and looks like a player shot in confidence. The right back position worries me. Jones got injured but is ordinary at best in my opinion. Vyner is a work in progress and could cost us some points.
Now fifth from bottom with the worst goal difference in the league and with two below us having home games in the week it could see us being in the bottom three by the time we visit Preston. We all knew it would be a battle all season and if we cannot improve on finding the back of the net the trapdoor beckons.

we had two players back mattock and wood, not one. To be clear I saw the bench give clear instructions to the team not to advance with 20 mins to go. This resulted in more pressure as it was easier for Bolton to recover the ball, we stopped the long throws which causes issues. Also it isn't just my opinion a lot of fans want us to go out to attack and push on after we go ahead, the best form of defence is attack. Also we are not that good at defending, so why try to do it. The effort was outstanding again, but that alone will not be enough, unfortunately. Smiler you and I will never agree on anything, we just have fundamentally different views on Rotherham United and on football.

You reap what you sow. Our transfer window was a non-event. Different from last season who have we signed that's good enough to step up a league? My only hope is Robertson. Vassell hope it was a reaction to his international call up yesterday. Jones is well past his best like Potter when we signed him. We give 2 year contracts out to players too old to complete them including Wood. Yesterday Vyner did ok. Taylor played his best game on the right in memory. I'm disappointed in Manning, apart from his 2 pens seen nothing from him to keep him here. Was it the old pals act yesterday having Palmer on the bench & not Robertson.

Do we target the Preston away game & write the Middlesbora away game off? Got to be proffesional so put strongest side we can out against Bora. Though Taylor was better yesterday don't think Bora game will suit him. My side. Rodak; Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock; Williams Towell Vaulks Wiles Newell; Smith

Blame me for that draw I broke one of my golden rules to mention opposition players as soon as I saw Diodge trotting on the pitch I new he would score.
As for Rotherham still the same problem Smith Vassell Taylor Williams where are the goals our only hope at the moment is to try and get Proctor match fit and see if he can start hitting the onion bag. Give Wiles some match time as the season goes on we will need him.

Anybody going Tuesday night or will you be like me hiding behind the sofa watching the red button.

Interesting shout that gwru. With Robertson not even on the bench i feel its an indication he needs more time. Wood struggled yesterday and three games in a week is a tough ask for him. Newell on the left at Middlesbrough is not a game i see him in either but i also think Manning and Vassell are not the answer wide left either so its difficult. Wiles didnt come on yesterday but feel his time is near but possibly not away to Boro or Preston. According to some websites we played 4:4:1:1 yesterday but i felt it was more 4:2:3:1. with Vaulks and Towell sitting a little deeper than Taylor, Williams and Vassell.
Perhaps with nothing much expected for us at 'Boro' its time to play 4:4:2. and have a real go away.
What about Rodak
Vyner Ajayi Wood mattock

Taylor Vaulks Towell williams

Smith Proctor.
Possibly a thrashing awaits with a very attacking line up but i also feel we would get beaten with our normal 4:5:1 set up. Who would have Warnes job ? Not me.

whiston01 you'll find out with me if I get it wrong which I do I'll say so. Yesterday when I saw Taylor was playing I feared the worst but as I've said that's the best I've seen him play on the Right in memory. But don't know if the Middlesbora game will suit him up against a big physical side like them. We have a problem on the left. Definitely not Williams. As you said who'd have Warney's job of picking the side Tuesday night?

I like your strong views gwru and also the fact you are not afraid to air them.
The side i put up i don't expect to be picked neither do i think 4:4:2 is our best option but is a formation and an attacking style a lot of people are clamouring for. Not a lot to lose is what i was hinting at.
For me our best chance is still to try and eke out points away. Stay in the game, frustrate, pick up something from set pieces, long throws etc. It hasn't worked yet and really its only showing small signs of working. I totally agree about not playing Williams on the left but highlighted the problem we have there. He is our most dangerous player at the moment and is thriving on coming inside more. Newell is the obvious pick wide left when on form but is showing little or nothing and looks more of a luxury at present. i do hope Robertson is able to play in one of the next two games at least and see if he is up to championship standard as i feel Wood will be out on his feet by Saturday and even slower. He thrives on a battle though so who knows. Good luck Warney with this very difficult job you have.

All I would say Derby is that in between us scoring and them equalizing we made four or five clear cut chances. Williams header, Smith from right side of six yard box, Taylor left foot from inside box, Smith hit post and Manning penalty shout. To suggest we scored and shut up shop is just not right. To be fair to Bolton they put subs on and finished with four centre forwards on the pitch which pushed us back at times and it must be right that at one up with time running out you don't go gung ho in attack. Ironically they scored on a counter attack where we left a two v two at the back, which is criminal at that stage of the game. If you want to play all out attack every week in any situation, get ready for plenty of hammerings. Warne's livelihood is on the line. If he does what you and others want him to do we will get battered regularly and you'll be the first one shouting for his head and he'll be out of work.

whiston01 I'd go with you playing Smith with Proctor up front. We need our strong battling players tomorrow night. Can't place Taylor Newell Manning Palmer in that category. I'd play Wiles on the left. Right footed but looks like he's got something about him.

Rodak; Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock; Williams Vaulks Towell Wiles; Proctor Smith.

i definitely think he should have gone 2 up front on saturday. having no competition for left back means mattock has come complacent again he had an absolute mare on saturday and at fault for their second goal

warne dilemma i think is a point is better than no points , but 2 dropped 2 points on saturday.

middlesborough we will be lucky with a point

preston away this match he has to go for it and play 2 up front get at them press high up field this match in my opinion is a 6 pointer
