We have just been robbed of two points by another howler by the officials .
The inept liner gave a throw to stoke when the ball clearly hadnt gone out .
Come the end of the season that decision may cost us dearly but I will wager that Baffoon that called it will be still on the line next week with no comeback whatsoever .
Sky have shown it twice and stevie wonder could see Taylor kept the ball in but not that linesman , I’m fuming over this because I know the EFL will do nothing to him even though his mistake has been viewed by millions tonight .
You're correct Luvpud. He clearly got 3 decisions wrong on his line today. Having said that, I thought we were battered for the first 45 minutes and we're lucky to go in 0-0 at halftime. PW's team talk at half time must have been spot on because we all of a sudden started playing with some belief and blew them away for the first 15 minutes. I wasn't surprised that they came back into the game but to have 2 points snatched away by an incompetent official was difficult to bear. The encouraging thing was that we finished the team most likely to score.
Some mammoth performances today - particularly Semi, Williams, Rodak and Towell. Not forgetting PW of course. But another poor home attendance - mystery?
A positive result against Bristol City will see us away from the relegation zone and in a place more reflective of the quality which we are currently demonstrating.
Onwards and upwards!
Great result my only gripe is at Paul Warne with hindsight
Apparently proctor and vessels injured or rested. We only had Smith as the striker apart from laithwaite. If he had kept d ball at least he would have option to change it.
If we had gone two up front we would have 3 points imo
Great performance but the board are letting the fans and the manager down. TS has been a godsend for us but now his false dreams and statements are not helping when we have spent none of the 9 million we will get for promotion and being in the championship on building a squad with enough players to give us any chance. Players sent out on loan to reduce the wage bill when the squad is thread bare as it is.
As a ref myself I cannot explain why the assistant called that as out when it was in his half and can only have been yards away. Yes I wasn't amused either but mistakes happen. We had plenty of opportunity to deal with the ball as Stoke recyceld the ball to the opposite side of the pitch. Both goals happened because the centre mids failed to pick up runners ala Frecks used to do for us. We haven't lost 2 points, if you take the 1st half we were lucky to get anything! (and I say that by chances not by craft as the lads absolutely worked their hides off), the 1st half especially.
I think you are 100% spot on with your reading of the goals Exeter. Hopefully, it is something the midfielders will learn from.
Whilst I was disappointed not to win having come so close, I really don’t feel we were robbed. The officials are only human and with the speed of the game they aren’t going to get every decision right. Also I would struggle to understand how giving one side an undeserved throw in necessarily means you have given them a goal.
As far as more technology is concerned I would say no. Just because we have the opportunity to play trial by slow motion video of all decisions made doesn’t mean we should sanitise the game. Mistakes happen. For me it’s all part of football. Hopefully things will even themselves out over a season.
On second thought, actually there is one bit of technology I would introduce. Give a GoPro to every referee and linesman in the country. Maybe we can then reduce the abuse and intimidation of officials, especially at amateur level.
