Obvious that's going to be the 11 starting the game cause there's only Newell Robertson Raggett good enough to come in. Proctor doubts if he'll come back from his injury. Vassell will play on the left. Be 4-5-1 no alternative. Just hope we can keep these players fit. All we've got to go with.
Not obvious at all T71. Theres a lot of debate around about what formation to play, whether to start with Smith or Proctor or both, whether Taylor should start etc. Personally I'd think about playing Jones at right back, Vyner at centre back where apparently he is most comfortable, and releasing Ajayi to play as the holding midfielder again. My 11: Rodak: Jones, Vyner, Wood, Mattock: Ajayi: Taylor, Palmer, Towell, Forde: Smith

Proctor started the game at Forest T71 so i would make one change Smith in for Proctor.
The defence played well at Forest as did the midfield in closing them down so i think it would be harsh to change it drastically like Smiler has. You have left Vaulks out completely yet i believe he along with Ajayi in the back four have been our best two players in the last couple of games. I do like Ajayi in a holding midfield but with our current injuries he has to play at centre back in my opinion. Why risk Vyner at centre back and finding out if he can do a job there? As for bringing in Taylor and Palmer sorry i cant agree with that.
I know people are going to say continue with the same and we are not going to win anything. Well i do believe its our best shot at getting anything against most teams in this league. Stoke play attacking football and will have the largest percentage of play. We have to frustrate them and hang in there, if we go for it i feel we will be undone in thirty minutes. Vaulks has played better since Towell returned to the club. However, i feel Manning could be suffering through Towells return as it is forcing him a little wider and on occasions has gone for the same space as Towell. I am sure the coaching staff will sort that out. When Newell is fit he could compete for the left side position and either free up Towell to get further forward or Vassell.
My team would be 4.5.1 formation.
Rodak
Jones Ajayi Wood Mattock
Williams Vaulks Towell Manning Vassell
Smith
I have thought again. I would pick the same side as Whiston01. But we do have options. Palmer has done well so far whenever he has played in a midfield three. There is a case for Proctor playing. Vyner was starting to come good although Jones did really well at Forest. Taylor gives us extra pace even if the end product is often lacking. Ajayi is the best holding midfielder at the club, but we are short of choices defensively. One thing Warne did really well last season (even into the playoffs) was to shuffle things around to suit the occasion and the opposition. It isn't just a case of 'what is my best eleven' but rather a case of 'what is my best eleven for this particular game'.
Totally agree with the last sentence Smiler and a good example of that was in the play off final. I thought we would be totally overrun in midfield with playing two up top. This wasn't the case and we were on the front foot from the start. He also brought Williams on for the last twenty minutes and extra time and his pace on a hot day had their tired defenders in trouble.
Smiler I thought you was taking the p*ss out of this thread or trying to get a bite from me. Vyner a boy doing a man's job in central defence along with Taylor Palmer Forde in the same side. You havin a laugh. Why do people want to move our best Centre back Ajayi at the club in place of Vaulks another one of our few assets whose doing fine now Towell is back as the holding midfield player. whiston01 that's side I said playing 4-5-1. Vassell better on the left but if Newell gets fit more a natural left winger. Williams isn't that consistent but Taylor or Forde aren't up to this level. I'd like to see what Wiles could do there. Finally got it on good authority that Dom Ball is playing out of his skin for Aberdeen. But wasn't one of Warney's boys!
as i see it its a choice of rb between jones and vyner
vaulks has played better with towell in midfield
the problem that needs addressing is the support of the loan striker me personally would play manning on the left and put vassell in the middle to support the loan striker
The last time i brought up Dom Ball you told me to move on T71 as he is no longer with us. So as you have mentioned him again i will have one last say.
Dominic Ball, 23 in August so has age on his side. Six feet tall and able to play centre back, defensive midfield and right full back. All areas especially first two where we need cover/improvement. Played at under 15 -under 21 level with Northern Ireland and under 19 and 21 with England. Spent several years at Tottenham, so he obviously has a fair amount of ability.
Then alarm bells ring. Sent out on loan to Rangers where he played over 20 games in there promotion. However, Warburton didnt sign him on next season and he was allowed to leave Tottenham to go to us on a free or for very little cash. Why?. He had a dozen or so games for us and looked like a fish out of water so we send him to Peterborough on loan. After about six games in it looks like he wants to pick the side and is sent back to us . The reason given he didnt agree with team selection. At 21 and on loan surely you have to get your head down and gain valuable experience. He couldnt play for us from March till end of season because he was contracted to Peterborough. What a waste.
The next season he goes on loan to Aberdeen and struggles to get in the team but apppears to battle for his place and does well in last 15 - 20 games. Back to us and loaned out again this season to Aberdeen again.
He has started well and has played centre back and defensive midfield. Lets hope he has matured as a person and can come back to us and feature in the next few seasons. Here's the worry i have. Tottenham get shut as a 21 year old after representing the country at all levels up to 21. Rangers do not sign him after playing well in there promotion season. Rotherham after seeing him only play a dozen games ship him out three times on loan, one of them he is sent back early. So no its not a case of not being one of Warneys boys, its also not one of Tottenhams and Peterborough. I would suspect its his attitude. Perhaps as he gets older he will mature in all aspects. One thing is certain if Warney sees him as trouble he will be gone come June 2019.

That maybe true about Dom Ball T71, but I live in Scotland and occasionally force myself to a few games.
Quite honestly, with a few exceptions, most English League 2 players would improve any SPL team... it's dire...
Vyner has been improving and is reportedly much better at centre half than at full back. Ajayi may be our best centre back but he is also our best holding midfielder by a mile. All I am saying is that it isn't obvious what our starting eleven should be. We have options. Wiles isn't really one of them as a starter for now. Dominic Ball - I've seen Aberdeen live on BT Sport a couple of times. He is an average player in a league where players who can't get in championship sides are amongst the best around. A league where Kirk Broadfoot is one of the better defenders and Scott Allan is a force. I wouldn't have Dom Ball back full stop. He's gone now anyway. Move on.
Would you honestly trust Vyner at Centre back how he got bullied for Villa's 2nd goal. Who else have we got to play at Right centre back other than Ajayi. Only Vaulks but he's not played there in the championship. Our starting 11 picks itself unless Newell gets fit. Robertson also. Proctor doesn't look right to start to me.
