Strange one this unless Warne has another LB in mind.

It felt like he never really settled for one thing, and I always thought he lacked a yard of pace to be honest. I would have worried about him playing in the Championship.

If he isn't going to play we might as well give him game time elsewhere and use the wages on someone who might.

Maybe Warne has faith in Hinds as cover for Mattock. Perhaps he will bring someone in. I just hope we won't make the mistake of playing centre backs or right backs out of position as cover. It rarely ends well.

Nothing strange about this. We’ve let our second choice left back go with plenty of cover left at the club.

Purrington isn’t agile or quick enough to be a full back at a good level, League one is just about his level.

'We need a quality left full back.'

Posted the above on 26th June 2018 on the 'Millers Pre Season Transfer Rumours Thread'. It was blatantly obvious to me.  Yes, I know, we also need at least one more midfielder plus a forward.

It's great being a Miller!

Read what I said after the Cardiff game. Purrington was put clean through didn't have the basic speed to do anything about it. Ihiewke next to go, got to be. We don't need another left back. I don't want some journeyman was a good player. If you went to the checkatrade last season you'd have seen Hinds along with Wiles were ready to move up to the 1st team squad. Next tues play both Hinds & Wiles, lets see if they are ready.

Now I'm worried Mattock got murderd for speed last time in champ , I thought we shelled out at least £30000 on Purrington for the future ,I believe this is the future .

Can't say I like this move unless we are about to sign another left back.

I'd pick Purrington ahead of Mattock. Mattock has a few good games, but there were many times in last two season where he goes AWOL and we get stretched at the back and concede... I thought overall, Purrington was more solid.

If Warne can tell Mattock his first job is to actually stop players going past him, not to bomb down the wing and forget to track back, that would be a start...

when others say we have plenty of cover on the left, who exactly?

Mattock isn't the quickest or the best left back we have ever had, but he is quicker and better than Purrington. I don't mind Purrington leaving as long as we have good cover, because Mattock tends to miss games through injury and/or the occasional suspension.

Don't panic, Mr. Mainwaring!

We need to win more games than we did the last time we were in the Championship. Thirteen wins and eight draws should see us just above the drop zone.

We still need that quality left full back, Warney.

mattock is not good enough for league 1 in this league playing mattock is giving the opposition a goal start. Purrington is a far better player, faster and younger also our manager spent 6 figures on him lest we forget
