Tonight's match, said to be the biggest game for England for many years, is a puzzle for most soccer pundits and supporters alike. I'm not sure it will be a walkover for England. Will we be held to a draw after ninety minutes of play against the Colombians? My guess is that it will go to extra time. We will then go on to a penalty shootout. Can we win? It's a bit like asking, 'Does Alan Shearer stop talking if he isn't twiddling a pen between his fingers?'
Maybe? Maybe not?
I don't know the answer to the question. I'm still puzzled. Has anyone got any other ideas? Your help would be much appreciated.
I want England to go as far as they can in the world cup but I can't get excited by the England set-up. I'd be using this game to work on our weak links for when we meet a proper contender but sounds like it's going to be the same side Southgate considers his best side. I'm going half time/full time England winning simply because looking at the Colombian side I can't see one player whose a premiership player with a top club.

Some very positive comments already on here about England's chances of progressing through to the quarter finals. I'm hoping Kane and Rashford are both firing on all four cylinders tonight.
Colombia are no pushover. Loftus-Cheek looks like he'll be on for Dele Alli who hasn't been in the game. Rashford has got to come on surely sooner than later for Sterling.
Very fortunate tonight. I question Southgate's substitutions - Loftus Cheek should have replaced Alli, Rashford should have replaced Sterling (in the first minute) and Dier by name, Dier by nature shouldn't have come on at all. Having said that, if the cheats of Columbia had won, it would have been an injustice to football.
Hopefully the team will be stronger for the experience and by the weekend, Southgate will have formed the same opinion about Sterling as the rest of the country!!

Tonight's predictions' special, brought to you by wotsisname, has now come to an end.
See you all on the astral plain or rather at one of the pre-season friendlies.
PS. And some fell on stoney ground.
