We’ve seen how Warne can improve strikers so there’s no reason why Vassell can’t get better under us.
Worked his way through non league to get this chance so he fits in personality wise for us. Decent enough goal record for Blackpool
and hope he does well.
Watching his YouTube clips, he seems to bring something different in terms of an attacking threat. Encouraging start to Warne's transfer window with the promise of more to come!

I agree mate.... looking fwd to the new season already.
I'm not expecting anything else than a struggle, but feels much better than last time we went up......
The season will be much better if, by the time it starts, they've demolished that G&C eye-sore which has been badly damaged by fire today - not that you'd notice! Clearing that site and redeveloping it would make NYS a much more 'Championship' level venue!
It does seem like madness that the status of the G&C building in its dilapidated state is holding back the development of the stadium site, which could be good for the town and its people. Hopefully the fire (regrettable though it was) will bring a common sense deal closer.
Sorry a bit off topic now but its sad for me to see as I used to work there in the late 70's and well into the 80's. Although it was known for many years as the 'Bread and butter factory' as the pay was never brilliant it kept us all in work during the ravages of the Thatcher era, did its bit for the war effort and kept Rotherham people employed during the slump of the 1930's. It has a fantastic and interesting history and had some amazing characters who worked there like 'Little Tommy Tin Tac' and 'Black Sarah' , who was a man. So in it's way it was good for the town and its people back then and sad to see it now.. As I leave NYS, I can see up into the window which was next to my desk. Oh & btw it never made hydrants for New York its a myth. NYS is actually in the New York area of town.
Thanks for that post Calypso. Interesting perspective. My own preference has always been that the building be developed sympathetically, maybe keeping the facade or main shell of the building in some form and tipping a cap in the direction of the history whenever we can. I am no architect but I see similar things done all over the place. Surely both sides of the argument can be brought together, otherwise everyone will lose - the club will never get what they want and the building will gradually be ruined.
I fully understand your perspective Calypso. The village which I used to live in lost its colliery and that has been replaced by a landscaped park, with a couple of interesting parts of the pit infrastructure left in place and a memorial to those who lost their lives at the site. The memory of the pit has been respectfully maintained and the colliery site is now a great place for sport/walkers. Whilst the people who worked at the pit regretted its demise, I can't imagine any would object to the eventual development of the site after its closure.
As a past employee, I'd be interested to hear what you think should happen to the G&C site? I can't imagine seeing it in its current state fills you with pleasant nostalgia? I liked the idea of preserving the front facade and incorporating it into whatever replaced G&C. Has anybody - for instance, English Heritage - sought your, or any previous employees' views on how the site should be remembered?
I no longer live in Rotherham and so really feel unqualified have have an opinion; but what saddens me is the whole town, over the years has lost so much, such as the old archway to the Medieaval Rotherham College which was incorporated into the College Inn but ripped out in the 1970's to make way for a key cutting and shoe repair place for goodness sake. Thats one example, but the list of lost treasures is saddening, where many towns and cities celebrate their history and heritage and seek to incorporate it into the new, ours is obliterated.
In the G&C case, best to demolish if nothing is done soon. I feel the frontage and the landmark water tower ought to be preserved and incorporated into a new development of some kind. I'm all for the new, times move on and things change, nothing remains the same. I just wish I had kept a copy of 'The History of Guest & Chrimes" that I produced when I worked there as a good deal of history was recorded there.
The stadium is very nice and if G&C and that whole site could be developed for the club it would really take it up a notch or two as a place to savour and be proud off.
I agree, it would be great to save the structure and some of the historic fittings...its all about the money and no doubt some sticking points of values and beleifs.
