Which ground?

With 11 Grounds in the Championship holding over 30,000....Not an easy choice but :

Which ground are you most looking forward to visiting (or re-visiting) next season?

The last time we were in the Championship I missed Villa Park due to holidays so, Villa for me.

The Hawthorns for me. I have been before but not for a good few years. I have a lot of time for WBA as a club and think it is a fabulous ground. An old good mate of mine is a committed Baggie so I will have a bit more than normal riding on it.

I've never been to

Blades
Leeds
Hull (old ground only)
Reading
Bolton (old ground only)
Blackburn

So hoping that they turn up during school hols etc.

And

Millwall
Brentford
Ipswich
Norwich
QPR

Are just too stupid to get to.

Been to the rest, Derby & Wednesday have the most massivitus fans. There are many daunting places particular if they're doing well like Stoke, West Brom, Villa, Boro. Can't remember any Champ season we were THE smallest club by a country mile. Read somewhere it will have 19 former PL clubs. Daunting and a real test of character that's for sure.

The last time I went to the Hawthorns was in 1969. Man United had won the European Cup the previous year and all I can remember is being crushed in the United end with my Dad and watching in awe at George Best and Bobby Charlton. The United fans continually sang 'We are the Champions, Champions of Europe' all through the game. The only disappointment at the time was West Brom won.

I guess the Hawthorns may have changed a bit by now? biggrin

Remember going to the Hawthorns when Raggy scored, that was a real big old ground you walked in and gulped - and what a noise! Of course a lot of that has been lost as it's been developed and is all seater, I thought so anyway when we were so unlcuky against them in the cup when - was it Robins was in charge during the points deduction?

PS - Remember Bob Taylor?

Slightly off the OP, but I'm looking forward to not going to the likes of Peterborough and S****horpe, grounds which belong well and truly in the last century. Unfortunately, we will have to go to the monolithic Hillsborough where you're lucky if your view is interrupted by only one stanchion!

I'm also looking forward to going to whichever ground stages our 3rd round FA cup tie - yes folks, no more 1st round exits for us next season!

If I can turn this round a touch, then Gillingham is the ground I am looking forward most to not visiting - thankfully this year we were spared being perched on the scaffolding but the place remains the subject of my nightmares.

I wouldn't argue with that shout Trevor, a right journey as well!! I wonder how many miles we will be doing compared to last season, it does at first glance seem to have shorter away trips?
