We've got to get in the championship next season then to offer Vaulks a new contract & keep Towell. Not impossible.

Not entirely sure Vaulks warrants the attention, he's improved a lot and with his Hospice work seems a very level headed chap and I applaud his progress and maturity. Blades will be a bigger step up than Rangers and I'm not sure where he'd fit into Wigan. Seems like lazy journalism to me.

We have a number of good players that I would have thought may interest those going up to the Championship or, possibly coming down from it?
If we end up as one of the teams that get promoted, that may be enough for the club to turn down any offers that could come in?

The problem will be If we stay in League 1, as that may be a different proposition for both player and club?

But, all speculation at the minute and just paper talk (I think!!).

Newell will also have been monitored by some other clubs.

Out of our own players there's only Vaulks worth anything like a transfer fee. Newell he's skillful but not one for when the sides backs are up against the wall.

We are fourth in League 1 and pushing for promotion. Most of the team are young and still learning, the lads are playing well and are probably the envy of most other clubs in the league. 'ALL' the squad are worth a transfer fee at the moment (and that includes the manager), which may turn out to be a problem?

Vaulks is a spoiler / attacks the ball on the floor and exceptional in the air....brought in as a player that does the dirty work. The bonus is he is better than just a spoiler....but he was brought here for that job with the likes JFC to pass to for the "football" bit. JFC was braded lazy but he's a non combative "footballer". A luxury player that's pulling the strings at Charlton now.

Both good players for the role they were intended and good at.

Every good team needs a spoiler in midfield and every good team has had one - with a "footballer" close by...

I agree with Archie - losing the manager is my worst fear. Twice this season he has shown how to turn an ordinary front man into a star. This makes him a very valuable asset at any level.

Can't be serious. Warney will only manage Roth' U, for how long I don't know. He's ok in league 1 but can he take us any further. Who else whose got any ambition will give him a job.

The Oxford chairman released this statement and for me the operative words are related to the sending of "very strong signals" about meaning business and are serious about promotion.

The chairman states that the prospective new manager:......

“He has indicated that he wants to come here and I think that provided we can sort out the finer points of the contract then he would have a real 'wow' factor for the fans and send very strong signals out that we mean business and are serious about moving this club into a higher division."

All that hype and he brings in a journeyman dolls head. Warne has done good - but a very poor league with points shared which means to me that they are all poor but those at the top are less so....but as for Oxford sending strong signals....

.......I think the appointment of Warne also gave "very strong signals" about the future development of our club.

PS: Shows how little the Oxford chairman knew about the EFL.
