What an absolute disgrace Salisbury was today , seen better refs on a Sunday morning in a park .
Not blaming him totally for defeat Rochdale won fair and square on the day but he made some terrible howlers for both sides I may add and ruined the game for me .
Still he will be reffing a game somewhere next week with no comeback from the football authorities I bet .
Best thing for him is to retire he is obviously not up to the job should never ref again after that pi55 poor performance today .
Can't disagree at all. After awarding the first free kick to Rotherham after a challenge on Smith (a collector's item this season) I was really encouraged. He then went downhill rapidly and some of his and his touch judges' decisions were mystifying. Unfortunately, poor refereeing is all too common in this League and it's something we just have to live with.
I usually sympathise with refs. It is a tough job. But sections of his performance yesterday were like mini comedy sketches. He gave the impression at times that his decisions were based on pure guesswork. I felt sorry for Forde who made a fantastic clearance in the first half to put it behind for a corner but was denied credit for it when the ref gave a goal kick. And the routine when we got a free kick in the first half on the right wing was comedy gold. The ref was intent on putting his foam spray next to the touchline when the liner was stood two yards away telling him that it should be five yards infield. In the end Towell picked the foam up and moved it himself and the liner let him do it. On a serious note, he clearly gave Woods 'goal' and took so long to change his mind that the celebration music had finished. A really poor display. Not biased, just clueless. Not the reason we lost though.
He also missed a pass back yesterday off vaulks to Rodak. Rodak picked it up and he did nothing.
Off to MK and I believe his son is the referee for that one.
I thought before the game as the officials warmed up that they looked out of shape, the ref seemed to struggle to get across the pitch. I think the lack of fitness led to a host of poor decisions as he was always 30 yards behind the play.
In saying that, it should have been 1-3 at half time as Rochdale were better than us today and deserved the win, too many 'off days' by too many players but, the run had to come to an end at sometime and at least it was against someone not near us (points wise).
Agree we were terrible but not that we should have 3-1 down at half time Dale missed two or three good chances we were denied a good goal by a useless oaf , but Dale were worth their win.
Rochdale won fair and square but how can we expect officials to keep up with young fit footballers when they are a good three stone overweight like the one on Saturday? Majority of the officials in this division just waddle about in the centre circle guessing.
I do not see where Woody has pushed neither Vaulks is it alongside him, goal should stand - it is an absolute basic error (if that's the case). Ajayi's header late on is a blatent push in the back and the ref doesn't give it. I'm sure his assessor will be reporting about his positioning during the start of play.
Funnily enough just starting a ref course this week to become a Level 7/6 ref (bottom rung of the ladder).
At level 4 amatuer games, you have to demonstrate that 'you will need to be able to cover 2500 metres in 12 minutes and also complete two 50 metre sprints, each in less than 7.5 seconds' - it says nothing of doing anything further to progress to Lvl3,2 and particular 1 league status.
I'm all for genuine mistakes but for things like this VAR must be used universally, at the very least by the 4th offical. It's a different game if we go in 1-0 at half time
To be honest Keith hill watched Donny play us and he tried same tactics
Overall I think all had a bad game but he needs to change it now
I would drop forde had two off games time willow started on right tues
Emmanuel had a shocker doesn't make him a bad player may be ***mings for Tues
Rest wood put vaulk in central defence with Palmer and towell in midfield
Stick with ball and Smith up front I would bring Laverty on earlier if not working and then taylor
Perhaps we should have played the ball more to feet rather than just route one football. The referee did make some atrocious decisions but he was not totally responsible for our defeat. We need to reflect, regroup and then hopefully return to our winning ways. Our season is still very much alive and kicking.
UTM!
The pass back was from his thigh - so it wasn't a pass back. Above the knee is allowed.
I think the ref was fundamentally flawed in that if he saw any player hit the deck then he awarded the foul. Hence awarding the keeper a free kick for laying down after being crocked by his own player.
The same happened the week earlier when the ref saw the Donny goalie crock their own player who got stretchered off. He then awarded a free kick to their goalie. WTF?
I also think Rochdale deserved the win so I don't want it to sound like sour grapes. The ref was poor for both sides.
