Rotherham v Portsmouth - Man Of The Match Award

Forde given MOTM Award. Well deserved, say I.

Forde never stopped running. Mixed it up, tracked back and broke up one really dangerous Pompey attack.

Well done, that man!

UTM!

It's always a thriller

Forde tracked back but Taylor is a different proposition. He'll make things happen, goals in him. Do want someone to win us the game or just keep us in the game. Williams is better on the right.

I'd like to see stats on him - he ran around a bit but little else. Taylor is better and glad he got on. Same for Yates another one that runs about but has no idea. We are a different team once he hooks them two off - more direct and exciting. I'd like to see them both sent off somewhere.

Ran around a little ! were you at the game did you not see the runs he put in ,his defensive work that he put in the 1st half to rob their lad on the right was terrific, I am not Ford,es biggest fan always ask what he brings to a game but today he was excellent , for MOM by a mile.

I couldn't go today due to personal cir***stances, and didn't see or hear the game, but personally I thought Forde and Vaulks were average at best and Newell was the best player on the pitch when he came on.

As a right winger he should be making opportunities for our strikers - how many did he? I don't recall any chances of note in the first half. Like I said I would like to see Opta stats - for me Towell ran his blood to water up and down the park and was MOTM

It was an attempt at humour. Sorry if it didn't quite come off.

Forde fully deserved motm today.

I can't make my mind up about Warnes tactics. He clearly picked a side where the subs improved the team and it worked. My argument is why not start with your best team in the first place. I do get that Taylor is just getting fit but Newell is better than Yates and Williams.

Just a thought but he PW might use the workhorses to wear down the opposition before the "flair players" come and do their thing.

Great result for a decent crowd - made more enjoyable by the opposition managers discomfort....lol

After a forgettable first half, I thought the second was one of the best attacking performances this season. PW obviously has the ability to inspire his team and the change he encouraged yesterday was similar to that which used to happen after a Steve Evans' half time talk! I've been a Forde knocker in the past but his display yesterday was fabulous. His strength and ability to beat a player have improved and his crosses were superb. If you're looking for a reason to award him MOM, look at the highlights when Smith gives the ball away and Forde sprints 40 yards diagonally across the pitch and puts in a fantastic ball winning tackle. I thought we were strong across the entire team with Mattock, Ajayi, Wood, Newell, Towell and Vaulks being stand outs. I like the look of Smith. Good in the air with quick feet - I think he'll be a real asset. He was unfortunate not to score on a couple of occasions when his efforts were blocked - once by our own player. Which makes me wonder how the BBC reckon we had one shot on target?! I'd like to see Smith start against Bradford instead of Yates who struggles to make a positive contrbution. Finally, I thought Jackett received the reception and result that he deserved. Complete disdain and ridicule from the fans he let down so badly!

All sounds encouraging Glenn - particularly the bit about Forde beating players. That is the bit for me that has been missing from his game. His work rate has always been good, but when he gets the ball wide with a full back to go out it isn't often that I believe that Forde can beat him on one side or the other. More importantly Forde himself doesn't look like he believes he can. Like you I haven't always been a big fan, but I have said myself that he has been better recently and if he can add that attacking threat to his game then he is certainly an asset. A good long run in the side might also be helping his confidence which has looked low at times in the past.

Maybe Forde needs to just think about getting that half a yard to whip a cross in (a la Beckham) instead of trying to skin a full back. If the forwards know that is what to expect they can make and time their runs accordingly and it is just as effective.

I just watched the highlights and saw minimum five shots on target. Even the Pompey fans seem to acknowledge that they were 'battered' in the second half and that in the end we deserved the win.

I had to miss yesterday, but Tuesday is looking like a big game and one to look forward to.

The areas in which Forde was operating and having success was predominantly in the middle third - push that effort and attitude into the attacking third and we will prosper from it.

So - wingers are gathering - we have a six footer to take on crosses and Ball to orchestrate.

Still a ****e league though but let's hope we can rise above the level of league one standard and develop our tactics / confidence.

These leagues are there for a reason...and that is the level of football within them - so we are what we are at the moment...a far cry from survival in the championship.

well done forde

played an outstanding game and i agree with other posts instead trying to be a pele try and become a beckham

concentrate on the cross instead of the defender

all in all a good match couldnt fault any player

smith looks good and could create the partnership with ball that frankly isnt working with yates

a couple of time yates was in space and ball didnt cross to him. to me it means ball doesnt trust him but thats my opinion

the subs changed the game in the way they are supposed so well done MR PAUL WARNE
