Bluebell Wood have announced that Will Vaulks has become an Ambassador for them. By all accounts he is a regular visitor to the hospice and does really good work there. I have heard that much of what he does is very low profile i.e he does it simply because he wants to. There is a lot of negative media coverage of footballers, but many of them do a lot of really good community work and they deserve a lot of credit for it. The commercial team at NYS would tell you that there are always players who will put their hand in the air when volunteers are needed for community work - apparently Alex Revell and Andy Warrington were examples of people who were very good like that - and for me that is part and parcel of being a good professional and someone who is 'good to have around the place' which is the sort of thing managers talk about when recruiting. Being a good football club is about more than winning football matches. In this case a lot of respect goes to Will Vaulks as an individual, and it also reflects tremendously well for the club in general. Great work all round.
Great post and 100% concur keep up the good work Will! Think this further emphasises what a great captain he'd make-more to being a captain than just having the armband on and this proves it
Nice post Smiler and well done to Will Vaulks - says a lot about him as an individual! Whilst we're on a roll of praising the club, I'd like to add my thanks to the ticket office who've re-located my seat for Saturday's match as a result of a hip replacement I had last week. I think the steep steps up the West Stand might be a step too far so soon after the op. Couldn't have been more helpful. Unfortunately I've had to declare myself unavailable for selection but could be touch and go for the Bradford match!
A good deed that often goes unnoticed. Another RUFC player gave a 1/3rd of his wages to a local cancer charity and regularly pops in with raffle prizes, again, another good deed by one of the lads. The whole team also sponsored another charity activity and raised close to a £1000. These things are very much appreciated by the organisations and the guys do it all out of good will and not for publicity.
There are a lot of good guys at the club! Well done Will, and the rest of the players and staff, its nice to see the good side of football.
