Looking forward to this one. Friendly club Walsall, though not the best of grounds truth be told. Can we keep the run going? Warney says he might shuffle the pack. He might have to if Towell isn't fit. Walsall have some key forwards missing suspended and injured. I can see us nicking it one-nil to set up a big game with Blackburn in the new year.
Warney go for the jugular. Move Vaulks back into midfield. Pair Ajayi & Ihiewke as centre backs. Moore in place of Yates. Always play your best players available.
A clean sheet against MK (from open play), a clean sheet at Bury - stick Vaulks 25 yards at every set piece opportunity to pick up the loose balls - why change owt?
Great result..... what a great Christmas for us Millers....
two key things:
- we ground out a result at Blackpool, you could see the relief on the players....
- we have got results without Moore - gives the team confidence to play 'as a team'
- Warne, I think, realised we can't play hoof ball, but we can play on the ground....
Some sleepless nights in TS household....get the moths out of the old wallet and spend a bit in January or let the moths develop to see exactly what we've created so far and let it fly....ssshhhh fly fly fly ...
Where's that chianti...😊

Another good result. I thought Vaulks did ok again at centre back but Ajayi was tremendous for 99% of the game. If he can just cut out the occasional blunder he could be a real player. It was hard to see from the away end but it looked like he made an error to put a goal on a plate that their striker fluffed with about fifteen to go. Apologies to him if the highlights show different.
Moore made a real difference when he was introduced at half time but he looked knackered by 80 minutes. Ball gets better and better.
Most of our defensive pressure came from our left flank. We didn't stop crosses coming in from that side (ironic that the goal came from the only time they got in on the other flank when Forde was skinned) and Mattock dove two or three times. Rodak did well.
All in all a solid day at the office. I assumed Frecklington was taken off to save his legs. I hope it isn't another injury. If he isn't 100% leave him out for Monday and have him ready for Bradford if possible. A point from the Blackburn game would be a good result and give us a great return from the holiday fixtures.
Walsall's number 10 (the diminutive Turkish player) was outstanding. A constant threat and a great left foot.
I thought Forde had a really good game today (apart from 2 poor corners) providing some great crosses, Rodak looked solid and Ajayi was excellent. To be honest, I thought Walsall deserved a draw but, we got another three points.......lovely!

Looking at the highlights it was Emmanuel who nearly gifted them an equaliser. Ajayi was truly excellent today. Actually Emmanuel was decent as well apart from that rick. Great run and cross for the winner. I agree with Archie that Forde had a decent game. I don't agree that Walsall deserved a point. I thought we shaded it and were just a bit better than them all over the pitch, particularly early in the second half when Moore had a real impact.

They had some great chances to beat us well - thank goodness their strikers were crocked. But the goal area 6 yards from goal - free headers - unmarked attackers - balls bouncing in in the box were all BAD.
No eulogies from me sadly - we're getting points because the opposition is worse than us not because we outplay them.
What can you say - championship stuff playing bad and winning!
Blackburn will test us more than Blackpool - Bury & Wallsall

Broadly speaking, we are stronger in attack than in defence. Better that we round. At least it is entertaining.
Also broadly speaking, we are better than the 16 teams below us in the league and not as good as the 7 above us. The league table is about right by this point in the season.
We aren't great, but the standard of the opposition is miles worse than we saw in our three years in the Championship. I would say that our current line up is pretty much on a par with what we had last season. Possibly marginally worse.
If that is the quality of player that we as a club can afford, I would rather be in League One winning more than we lose than be in the Championship getting smashed week in week out. I'd rather be in the car going away to a small-ish club hopeful of winning than be going to a big club wondering how many we are going to lose by. Sorry if that sounds negative/defeatist but it is the truth.
Vaulks didn't outshine anyone at Walsall. Ajayi was the standout defender. I think everyone acknowledges that defensiveley we have been shocking for a while now.
I have never heard TS say anything to suggest that he is happy to settle in League One or near the bottom of League One. In fact he always talks his ambition up.
The bottom line is that sadly in football money tends to talk. There are teams in the Championship spending several millions on individual players. It is possible to go up with momentum and do ok (survive) for a season or two but in the pretty short term without the financial muscle to get quality players in it turns into a slog. Ask Burton, MK Dons, Barnsley, Donny or Wigan who have become a yo-yo club despite having more resources than us.
I'm not happy to be in League One. The key part of my earlier post was the word 'if'. Ideally I would like us to be able to go into the Championship and be competitive, but the reality is that with our resources if we somehow finished sixth this season and won the playoff lottery we would probably have another season of going away from home once a fortnight and shipping three or four goals a game and having to set up defensively at home to scrape points. Is that entertaining? No. Do I want another season of that? No. Do I want us to go back up? Only if and when we are ready and able to do better than that.
How to get us into that position is the million dollar question. Whether TS can get us into that situation I don't know. His problem is that he builds up Championship expectations but hasn't yet been able to deliver.
I am interested to know Bornamiller what you think we can achieve and how we should go about it? That is a genuine question.
