PS  We beat lowly Bury and so the pressure to recruit has now been eased. Really? RUFC are having a laugh.

He says what he has been told to say ! Tries to disguise it but he's very much a "yes man" I'm afraid.

It is obvious that we have lots of room for improvement in personnel, and I find it hard to believe that any manager on the fringe of a play off place would turn down the opportunity to spend a bit to strengthen. Conclusion - (1) we've got no money or (2) we don't want to go up or (3) we are bluffing to avoid asking prices getting bumped up.

In addition, we've been longing for the January window while at the same time not expecting much. He's preparing us now that thats exactly what we are going to get. Least ways I'm not holding my breath.

Rumour around that we're getting James Hanson from the Blades on loan to replace Moore.

That wouldn't set my pulse racing and the worry for me would be that we would revert to the route one tripe that got us into a bad run. But used properly he would no doubt do a decent job, and it makes a lot of sense because at his age he needs to be playing, he is local, etc etc.

Get in for Christian Doidge from Forest Green. OK it's L2 but loads of goals in a struggling team AND we could get him.

January's transfer window activity, or lack of it, will shed light on our future intentions. Now is the time to bring in a couple of players to strengthen the squad. We don't want journeymen either.

Agreed - no journeymen.

Warne's comment about not needing to recruit because we are on a good run is nonsense. He should (must) know his squad and their strengths and weaknesses and therefore the areas where recruitment would be beneficial. What our short term form happens to be at the point we enter the fixed transfer window period should be an irrelevance.

Signs are we have no money. I hear and see reports that the Ward money might have gone on other things (wages, signing on fees, paying Blackstock off, plugging holes in the budget or whatever). If that is the case then fair enough, but that is the polar opposite of what we were all very clearly told. Also we are told we have bid for Moore. We all know that any bid shy of say £500,000 minimum would be a complete joke, so if we fall short presumably the same money is still there to spend on someone else? Or are we being spun a line? I think we should be told. The one thing I don't buy is that we could buy if we wanted to but choose not to. We are nowhere near good enough for that.

Shocking league this one - league two must be tragic to watch week in - week out !

The mouthy minority and football elite could not stand any defensive tactics to survive in the championship and wanted to play toe to toe expansive football against teams light years beyond us. When Warne got the job he played open football with the inevitable outcome.

Well - those football elite who still can't understand the tactics of survival - even now played against City - even by footballs elite teams - should be happy - we'll be fine playing like we are because most teams arn't good enough to punish our obvious weaknesses.

This is as good as it'll get I'm afraid - but many would rather have this dross than struggle / compete in the championship - that's the Rotherham way.....heard it so many times last year !

PS: A VERY HAPPY & CONTENTED NEW YEAR
