What were they are they ?
If you think about it he was a player who always gave 100% and that’s about it.
So why give him the job ?
Experience ? no
The team looked fit when he was a fitness coach ? No.
He has a presence ? No
The supporters wanted him ? No
Imo we have some decent players but he’s just got them playing terribly.
He brought in his coaches and between them a load of crap.
If he doesn’t go we’re going down.
He got his UEFA A License in the summer in Ireland, or is it that he started it and is yet to be assessed? I can't remember. He's also a qualified teacher. Warney is not daft, I think we have perhaps 4 players who are worth keeping and 2 of those are loans.
If you buy crap meat you can't turn it into a la carte
You can't simply book into a two week course and come out with an 'A' licence. There is a hierarchy of badges to go through - each having theory classes but a great deal of coaching on grass. For this reason I doubt that he currently holds the 'A' licence although he might be working towards it. Barker has his 'A' licence and has used it to underpin his career as a serial failure at his previous clubs.
So we have a manager undergoing on the job training at our club.
What erks me that Warne was a clock in - clock out fitness coach - not wanting to be absorbed into football - hindering his family life and you can't blame him: However a career manager lives and breaths football tactics and man management - that is not PW - and you can tell ! He didn't want the job and he shouldn't have been forced to take.
But who else would take the job after other highly qualified and respected coaches were hired on 3 year projects only to be prematurely sacked in ridiculously short time ( in football terms ). Then KJ running a Millwall mile once he saw the inner workings of the club.
So as TS owes PW for saving the day - despite his incredibly bad stats' - TS is honour bound to stand by him and as said - who else would take on the job !
You are right Born. The football world will be well aware of the constraints of working under the current Rotherham United hierarchy so we are stuck with Warne who is probably mentally tougher and savvier than the sympathy seeking persona he chooses to display but is still so obviously incompetent. The players know the score and wont be in a hurry to get off "easy street". Nothing is going to change, results are beginning to mirror last season, and it pains me to see us heading for another relegation battle.
